Two stars is mainly due to the fact that there is just not enough staff to assist the many people who require mental health services. It is not a reflection on the actual help I have received. They also run programs and then make it incredibly difficult for any clients to get into any of them. I've constantly been given the runaround by staff over a schedule for when the programs are happening.

This place has very limited services. They really dont follow client centred care or listen to their clients needs. Probably because everyone is burnt out, its really a shame that this is the only public mental health outpatient service in Kamloops.I was followed by a psychiatirst in 2020 from here. Never once did I have the option of meeting him in person, even through video chat even though we had appointments every 3 or so weeks for roughly 6 months. I was put on lithium by him and it was AWFUL for me. My hair as falling out in clumps, my skin started to become extremely dry and peel and scab, i gained about 40 lbs, my moods changed from bad to worse and I became extremely irriatable and anxious. When I told him this over and over and basically begged him to take me off he refused and gave me no other alternatives other than increasing my dose, so I basically had to ghost him and wean myself off with no medical supervision which can be really dangerous. I was referred to a new psychiatrist in February 2022 because I was struggling with terrible anxiety that kept me in the house. I was also pregnant so I attribute some of the anxiety to fluctuating hormones and recent stressful life events. It is now November 2022. They finally got me in for an appt with the doctor after I waited for 9 months and they lost my referall about 4 times so I had to keep being re referred. I missed the appointment which I know is my fault, I was prescribed seroquel which makes me very sleepy and I explained but then they give me attitude and say I have to be re reffered or wait over 2 months to see the doc. Yeah no thanks Im good on that. Ill get some real help elsewhere.

Extremely hard to access services. And hard to get anybody to answer the phone. Also no parking.

The nurses were kind, caring, and knowledgeably. I don't know what I would have done without them. Refered by my Dr. This is a great service.
