Both professionally and for pleasure, I've spent time at a great many resorts in remote locations, seeking the good fishing there. In all those years, I've never met better hosts than Toby and Ellen at Shining Falls, nor any that truly and manifestly love and live for what they do. Theyve done a remarkable job at sustaining a quality resort in an isolated, fly-in location, with a superb staff. A great and ardent angler himself, Toby is a force of nature with the sort of boundless energy most people can only envy. We had an outstanding five days there, particularly fishing from Shining Falls fleet of Old Town Predator kayaks, pedal powered. Toby has ingeniously rigged a flat-topped, outboard-powered little barge of sorts on which he can zoom across the lake with up to six kayaks, so anglers can fish various destinations too far to easily reach on their own. Typically progressive, Toby is offering the only serious kayak-fishing experience at a remote fly-in lodge in Canada, at least that I've ever heard of. And if you think catching pike and walleye from a boat is fun, try it in one of the Old Town super-stable, very easily pedaled/steered kayaks! Whatever your purpose for a visit, I cant recommend Shining Falls highly enough... five stars for the fishing, the food, the accommodations and the service!
