The lodge, the team, the food, the guides, the setting. All are wonderful! The only reason the is a 4 and not a 5 star rating is that the polar bear experience itself was a bit disappointing : we did see a couple, but from far away and never walked with the polar bears as the brochure implies. We did get very close to wolves and saw wonderful northern lights display however.

Had an amazing trip!! Best way to review this is to break it down by key areas: 1) Lodge: The main common area is a beautiful wooden structure with a fireplace, cozy chairs, etc. It is a place that will definitely get you to linger. The rooms are comfortable and simple with hot showers. 8 rooms are spread over two wings. The wings and the main common area have big windows overlooking the landscape. The food is very tasty! Canadian beer and wine are also served. It is amazing that everything for the lodge has to be flown in. 2) Location: The lodge is in a stunning location at the edge of a spruce forest and the flats that extend to the Hudson Bay. It is remote and absolutely stunning! So beautiful. 3) The Experience: The day consists of a morning activity, lunch at the lodge, and an afternoon activity. Some times an all day activity will be done and lunch is eaten "in the field". The activities consist of a combination of riding custom built vehicles that place you high above the surrounding vegetation and walks. If you see polar bears (and the conditions are right), you will walk closer to see them (still >100 yards). Being on the ground watching polar bears is great. In the evenings they have educational programs after dinner, which was very nice. You also have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights (which we did) 4) The Wildlife. Calling this lodge a "polar bear lodge" is the "undersell" of the tourism business! The location of the lodge is a prime location at the intersection of different habitats (coastal & boreal). As such, the potential to see lots of different wildlife is great. The wolf viewing has got to be the best in the world...we saw them up close almost every day. They even come by the lodge! We also saw black bears almost every day, polar bears, and lots of birds. If you want a diversity of wildlife along with seeing polar bears then this is the place. A note...this is a HUGE wilderness area. The guides have an idea of where the polar bears are and know that the guests want to see them. Sometimes this may mean that they are right outside of the lodge and other times it may mean that you need to drive a couple of hours to see them (which was the case for us). Loved seeing the polar bears but the wolves were even more amazing for me!!! 5) The Staff: Second to none! Extremely helpful and they really spoil you! They keep everything clean and cozy. You will never go hungry. The guides are also great. The knowledge is evident and they have an incredible respect for their surroundings and animals. They are very informative and you instantly feel relaxed. I have been on African safaris and this is a very similar experience. It is truly a place that should not be missed. Planning to go to the Seal River Lodge (sister property) in the future to experience a different habitat and animals.

Stunning location, wildlife heaven and amazing service- you literally cant get a better wildlife experience whilst being spoilt in every way.. the staff are just amazing at Churchill Wild. From the ground staff to Glen and our Churchill guide Koral, to the awesome staff at the lodge including our stellar wildlife guides Emory and Kevin; they all were just amazing. We had some incredible experiences with the polar bears and the pack off wolves in the area.. not to forget the cute black bear around our lodge and some beautiful scenery. We will surely be back!

Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is located in an uninhabited area twice the size of Switzerland. Therefore, wildlife is largely undisturbed by humans allowing for incredible upclose encounters of polar bears and wolves. We stayed at this lodge for almost three weeks in November. The lodge is just wonderful, very cozy with a fireplace and large windows overlooking the Hudson Bay coast. The guides have years of experience in this environment and made us feel safe even when walking with polar bears. Evenings were mostly spent with short talks about wildlife. But we also enjoyed just spending time talking to our fellow guests, that travelled here from all over the world. The lodge offers an incredible level of comfort for its extremely remote location. There is running hot water, showers, flush toilets, heating - everything to make the stay enjoyable. We especially want to mention the food, which is delicious. Already breakfast is a multi course experience. Lunch, appetizers and dinner are not falling short of that in any way! We can highly recommend this lodge and would like to thank the wonderful staff, that made our stay so very enjoyable. We have already booked our next trip!
