Really happy with the Arctic Heat pumps! It can be tough making a customer realize how effective and cost-saving these gas heater alternatives are. But once its in their backyard doing its job heating the pool, they realize how great a decision it truly was.

Solid engineering & thoughtful design - worth every penny. The customer support has been very helpful also. It's hockey night in Canada but for heat pumps.

I purchased an Arctic Air to Water heat pump in the fall. Hans my rep was very helpful in design, installation tips, etc. The machine endured CO winter at 8,500 feet elevation. While the output certainly falls as the temps plummet (As the curves show!) I still managed to save just over 50% off my net heating bill this winter. It seems like a very solid product. I also had a technical issue which I reached out about and was very promptly offered tips, warranty part, etc. I hope its longevity is as solid as its performance - I'm certainly pleased with the company and product so far!

I bought the smallest size pump, on the company's recommendation, given the size of my pool. It failed to heat my pool up in the winter and my contractor and I spent many hours troubleshooting it with technical support. Finally, they recommended upgrading to a larger size unit and I ended up getting the largest size heat pump to be safe. So far it's been working fine but by the time I got it shipped and installed it was springtime, so I still don't know how it will perform in the winter. Given this terrible experience I would rate lower than 3 stars. However, the technical support was good and the company stood behind their product and worked out a win-win deal between myself and my contractor to upgrade me to the larger unit without having to ship the original unit back across international borders. I'd bump it up to 4 stars if I had confirmation it works during the winter as advertised but the jury is still out on that. Otherwise, for now the unit is very quiet, has been keeping my pool at the right temperature, and I like the ability to control it remotely via an app (though control via the app is quite limited - just on/off and set temp at 20C or higher).

April 2021 to April 2023 I had been heating a radiant floor system and making domestic hot water with a propane water heater since 2015. But the rising cost of propane and the problems of home heating with fossil fuel led me to want a change, and in April of 2021 I installed an Arctic 060ZA air-to-water heat pump. I chose this unit because of its simplicity -- electrical connections and supply and return water pipes. The unit has very good performance specs that are easy to access and understand, demonstrating that the Arcitc technology works through the entire year, including our deep Canadian winter season. I also appreciated the benefits of a made-in-Canada solution. The installation was a lot of plumbing work. I wouldn't recommend this as a typical DIY project, I had installed the first version of the heating system for our place and knew its demands. I re-connected the old propane water heater as the heat pump's buffer tank. I re connected the house radiant floor system on the ground floor, and a second heating load, a flat plate heat exchanger to heat a domestic hot water tank. This simple setup worked pretty well, although the domestic hot water supply was very slow to recover from someone running a bath. Late in 2022, I added two more heating loads: a fan-coil unit in the upper part of the house, and a buried heating loop to our workshop, 10 metres behind the house. I discovered that four heating loads sharing the single pair of tank connections with the heat pump didn't work very well: there simply wasn't enough fluid flow in all that shared piping. April 2023 The solution to the flow issues was to install a proper buffer tank, which has separate connections for the heat pump and the heating loads. I installed a ComboMax 50 gallon unit, which also has 12 kW of electric backup heat elements, and a copper coil immersed in the tank to provide instantaneous domestic hot water. The system is now working perfectly, with regular and efficient cycling of the heat pump, even heat distribution to the 3 heating zones, and a totally reliable supply of domestic hot water with rapid recovery. I have been monitoring this system with a data logger for the past year and a half, and can confirm the performance claimed in the product documentation. Throughout the last two years I've contacted the support staff at Arcitc for technical help, and they have been very available and knowledgeable.
