We had a wonderful experience at Making Roots! We would highly recommend this Montessori center and are sad to leave as we are moving provinces. Our son learnt a lot during his two years and had the most amazing teachers and peers. The communication from the school is superb and we are so grateful for our time at Making Roots (they also opened Little Sprouts not too long ago).

Review for facility for up to 36 months old. Our exposure to the facility 5 visits conducted by my husband, Grandma and myself with our little one. Enough to NOT take him there. Decided to share my experience and thoughts, hoping this help parents. What we saw: -There is a lead teacher (certified) and an assitant teacher. In one of the visits lead teacher had to take the day off hence, two assistant teachers were looking after the kids. The kids will have 100% diferent experience with not much direction and very disorganized. -For last visit, my son wanted to leave, he packed and grabbed his backpack and standed close to the door (Normal reaction as part of the transition). It was sad to see the reaction of The assistant teacher. She did not engage him in any activities, she was sitting on the table crossing her legs, from there She was laughing while yelling where are you going? No intention to make him feel welcome, engage him or get him distracted with activities. - A kid felt, The kid did not receieve attention until he cried. -A kid kept following a teacher while holding a book. Maybe hoping he will get attention, it didnot happen, nobody acknolwedged he had a book or wanted someone to read him the book. -The facility does not have a microwave. The area for the kids is arranged in a commercial unit. If you are curious you are able to drive by you will see the set up and decide if you like it or not. -The owner called me to discuss the concerns I had, which is good, however the call was extemely intimidating and it was more about defending the brand and her staff. She did not address, understand and acknowledge any of my concerns. She mentioned she trusts her staff. -We were offered flexibility for my little one's transition. In the call with owner she also mentioned and made clear, they gave us too much already because they dont do visits with parents or switch from part time to full time as part of a transition. Also, mentioned that there were a lots of parent on the waiting list looking for a spot. Personal opinion, Comparing the cost of this daycare vs. Other daycares this is too expensive for what they offer. I found other options not as expensive as this one, where with just one quick tour you can tell teachers and owners really care about the kids and your kid will get the attention you would expect. From this experience I learned, the foundation of a great experience for the family is the teacher. It is the key, even if there are not certificate for all teachers, a passionate teacher that really care will make the difference.

Im a very disappointed grandmother. Although I dont have a child in this Montessori daycare, I had opportunity to be at the IGA next-door and upon going to my car saw that one of the 2 to 3 year old little girls was without mitts and in minus degree weather. When I said to the daycare staff shouldnt that little girl have some thing on her hands? They said oh yes yes and as Im backing away I hear that staff say to the children shell soon learn that not wearing mitts has consequences so we will have to wait for her to decide to put them on because she doesnt want mitts on right now! whose the adult?? In my mind a 2 to 3 year old will freeze their hands before realizing that maybe they should put their mitts on !!! very disappointed with this Montessori daycare you should be too if youre a parent who has a child there.

At Making Roots Montessori Centre I noticed every childs choices, responses and capabilities are honored while interacting with valued materials and trusted individuals, whether peers or educators. There is a momentum characterized by the desire to practice and to learn. The teachers expertise and confidence with Montessori principles and curriculum, as well as Early Childhood Education and additional diplomas regarding childhood enrichment education allowed for the thoughtful precision used when teaching and guiding each individual learner in this unique flexible environment. Significant caring relationships with the children build bonds of trust which enable these children to be clever, warm and enthusiastic citizens. Deep appreciation to Ms.Vivienne, Ms. Megan, Mme. Sylviane, Ms. Amarpreet and Ms. Manal for this wonderful opportunity to observe your environment in action!
