My furnace decided to turn off on Father's day and a gentleman that was on call came to check my unit ASAP to do a preliminary check as he mentioned to me that he was not experienced in electric furnaces. Regardless, this company was the only one that was able to visit on such short notice and very quickly too. I called 8 to 9 different companies before I reached out to College Electric and none of them could even book me in for that week. A couple days later, Ron, a more experienced technician came by to do a secondary check on my unit. He diagnosed my unit's compressor to be the problem. After some back and forth, I found the company that installed my furnace and they inspected it and arrived at a different conclusion. Regardless of this confusing situation, I am still very happy with how professional College Electric is (with the exception of the receptionist trying to tell me that she could not do anything for me). I was wanting a partial or full refund as I felt that the service charge was unreasonable given that they could not fix my problem. The owner ended up personally calling me, understood my concerns, and gave me a full refund. Service: Electrical inspections

We retained College Electric (also doing business as Home Service Plus) to replace a hot water tank, furnace and air conditioner last June. The installation failed a Manitoba Hydro inspection last September. College Electric (Home Service Plus) replaced a hot water tank to remedy that failed inspection in September. In May, the hot water tank installation again failed a Manitoba Hydro inspection. When I informed College Electric of this, I was met with skepticism initially, but after reviewing the file, they admitted that there was a problem worker who did the installation for me who had since been fired and said they'd take care of it. They were supposed to come visit my home today to verify non-compliance and arrange for all non-compliance to be fixed so that Hydro's third inspection would lead to acceptance of the work. However, College Electric failed to show up. When I complained, the representative stated that due to matters beyond her control, they would have to reschedule. When I expressed dissatisfaction, I was given some serious attitude. The deadline for compliance with Manitoba Hydro is fast approaching, and we are no closer to resolution. I just want College Electric / Home Service Plus to just do the job correctly so I can move on with my life and never have to deal with them again. A year later, my hot water tank should not still be awaiting approval from Manitoba Hydro's inspectors. Do Better, College Electric / Home Service Plus. College Electric is a Sham and run by con artists that like to take advantage of elderly and just about every customer that has the misfortune of calling them. As you can see the reviews of this company are not good and there is a reason for that! We had the AC unit "cleaned" last month and had to have another company come in to correct what they DID NOT DO! They charged $100+ to come into my house and do NOTHING! A week after the cleaning, i had a leak. I advised the property manager, as there was already another plumbing company on site, she asked them to have a look and report on the leak. After the $100+ service charge, here is what was still wrong with my AC: . - Evap pan drain elbow was super loose so i resealed that. - suction line was exposed through flex so it was condensating so i taped it closed. - Evap coil is super dirty - Filter is wrong size for downflow unit and doesn't cover whole plenum. THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING LISTED WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTRA CHARGE?? IF NONE OF THESE ITEMS WERE A PART OF THE SERVICE. WHAT DID I PAY FOR!! I have used them every year for this service and others, and this is how they treated me?? BLATANTLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME AND MY FRIENDS FOR YEARS!! I AM DONE AND WILL MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY I KNOW IS ALSO!!
