A 24-hour emergency vet is not something you ever want to use, but I'm very glad they were there when I needed them. Late one evening, my dog got hold of a piece of mouse poison that had fallen out of its bait station. I called them and brought him in immediately. They induced vomiting and sent us home with the necessary follow-up care. They turned a very stressful situation around for me and I'm very grateful. Keep up the good work

It pains me so much to go over this matter that I had to wait a good 8 months to write this review. This past summer I lost my best friend Audrey. Because she was small she went everywhere with me and was always happy as long as she got her cuddles. Audrey was staying with my mom (she was pretty much Audrey's 2nd mum as we stayed with my parents for a time) for a little bit while I looked for a rental in Toronto (I was moving to Toronto due to work and school opportunities). Because Audrey was older (but in exceptionally good health and probably much healthier than most dogs her age) I wanted to make sure I secured a pet friendly rental for us before stressing her out with a new environment and have her hopping around airbnbs. Only two weeks later while in Toronto I found a pet friendly rental and was about to buy plane tickets to fly with Audrey to Toronto and settle into our new home. The very next day, right when i was buying plane tickets and arranging everything, I find out Audrey suddenly passed away. My mom was in shock and at a loss of words. Audrey had been puking and wasn't able to keep any water or food in her system rather suddenly. So my mom took her to this emergency hospital and that is where the nightmare started. Audrey was very weak and my mom said it was very evident she needed treatment. My father as well, although not an animal doctor but a human doctor, said he thought she might need to be hooked up to an IV at the emergency hospital and would probably be fine after that. Instead, this vet, and I don't know why he treats animals when he does not seem to care if an animal lives or dies, prescribed some minor medications for Audrey's nausea and he persistently assured my mother that Audrey is OK to go home and it's nothing serious. He literally told her it wasnt serious. And what happened? Audrey passed away that night. I was so distraught and emotional not only over losing my best friend but also because of the vet's incompetence and lack of thorough care. I considered suing him but realized I may be too emotional at that point to be able to take that kind of action with sound mind and reasoning. And here's what it gets even worse: This past month I finally felt ready to adopt another rescue. This rescue organization works out here in Toronto and they are understandably very thorough about references and checking on your experiences with past vets. When they contact this emergency hospital for the vet that treated Audrey, he put the blame on my mother for Audrey's passing. He claimed he recommended Audrey return to the hospital if her condition didn't improve. In reality he hurried my mom and Audrey away eager to get them out of the hospital so he doesn't have to work too hard. He comforted my mother claiming Audrey would be OK and instead her condition became extreme and she died. I know if he had done his job he would have realized Audrey needed to stay at the hospital to be observed and given extra aid until theytr certain she is healthy enough to be treated at home. We have spoken with other vets about this whole situation and they all disagreed with his approach towards Audrey. I will never ever forgive him. I lost my best friend too soon because of his lack of care.

We had to bring our cat, Gypsy, in for an emergency visit over the weekend from the north. With emotions running high, it is so nice to be greeted with courteous and calm staff. When we arrived, it was rather busy and since our issue was less urgent than the others, we had to wait about 3 hours before we heard from the veterinarian - understandably so. All of this was communicated to us by the receptionist before we even agreed to leave Gypsy. She ended up needing an emergency surgery that took place through the night - great communication from the attending veterinarian and such compassion over the phone. Within 36 hours, we had our girl back. We are so pleased with the level of care we received and it's a relief to know that such kind, knowledgeable vets are available at any hour ready to help our loved ones. Thank you to Dr. Anseeuw and Dr. Lim for the exceptional care for our little love, Gypsy.

January 17, 2023 I took my 11 year old German shepherd in because she had lumps all over her body and the one back leg was swollen really badly and she was panting a lot and needed bloodwork to see if its caused by her medication done for her thyroid because my regular vet was busy and said take her to emergency. Was told by Dr Scammel there is 14 pages of the dogs history from my regular vet and he didnt have time to read it, and will NOT do the bloodwork for her thyroid levels because he was super busy and to Lets focus on her panting and swelling leg, and its because she is overweight (I understand she is overweight), thats not why I brought her in. He said that the lumps were normal, and not cancerous, because he shaved and poked a needle into the chest of the dog and there was no signs of cancer (really you can diagnose that just by looking at what you pulled out?), well funny thing is the dog fur was shaved but there was no poke mark in the shaved area! then he recommended Id do an X-ray to rule out cancer, I asked him how much, he said itll cost $181, on top of the pre midnight fee of $100, I was desperate and wanted to make sure, I consented and 10 minutes I get a call and he told me it was negative. (X-ray result in 10 minutes)? I paid almost $300 the total time was less then 30 minutes from the waiting in parking stall till the time my dog came out, So once again no bloodwork for her thyroid level which I needed for my dog, told me she didnt have cancer, I went and paid the bill and felt ripped off as I drove back home with my dog.nothing was done or answered and this morning my dog passed away at home overnight (January 23,2023 @ 5:33am) * I will change this review when Im contacted by an administrator at the Pembina Animal Emergency

I read the reviews but had no choice. My dog needed attention so I rushed him here. The male vet had an attitude straight away when he called me back and said the dog needs to be put down or have an expensive surgery and ended that with a *sigh*. I opted for surgery which would cost me $2500 and boy, did this male vet turned all happy once the money factor came into play. It really changed. Wish you guys can hear a recording. Anyhoo, vet Anseeuw did the operation. She was friendly and explained a lot. It was awkward though while waiting for my dog from Anseeuw. I smiled and nodded at staff, friendly. The staff did not say hi, how you doing, no smiles, nothing. Fast forward today, the surgery wasn't successful and my dog developed the same issues. I ended up surrending my dog to give him another chance of life. He's old, almost 11 years now. I called to get his medical history transferred and got hung up on. 7:29am Jan 23 if you want to find out which of your workers it was. The stars are real, take your loved one elsewhere. I was going to go to Bridgewater which was recommended by family and friends. Aside from Anseeuw, this place doesn't have much going for it.
