I still always refer back to the couple sessions we attended with Alan. I would definitely not recommend, I'm sorry. I felt very much suppressed and any time i said "i feel" it was dismissed but moved to the other persons views. My feels were felt to be unimportant during the sessions. I have to say, this caused a lot more hurt in my relationship and always reminded your feelings are not important remember even the counseling agreed. Also of note, anytime i would leave a message for Alan for a re-schedule, for some reason my messages would be returned to my partner only. I found this to be weird and awkward since we both took turns paying for the service.

Allan is absolutely terrific. He is patient, and very fair. I highly recommend him for couples as he is really good at being empathetic with both husband and wife. He concentrates on the differences rather than finding "flaws" so no one feels like the "bad guy" but rather finds self awareness and can use that to figure out how to improve the relationship together.

I don't think any counsellor is bad yawning or not. I had the same experience. However, you just got to keep looking until you can connect with one that you can trust. I have a fantastic one I work with now. The fourth when I tried

Went to see Alen Venderwater with high expectation and was very disappointed. I had 1 hour of session with him and he was yawing the whole time. It was so bad that I couldnt make an eye contact with him because he was trying to stop yawing which was very distracting and uncomfortable. Very unprofessional for $100/hour service. I did not feel connected and not going back. I would not recommend to anyone.
