Drove from Boston to Winnipeg through Ontario. Was a customer of RBC insurance previously and decided to take it again for my car. Registration was in Ontario and representative reassured me that upon arrival to Winnipeg I will be able to transfer it to Winnipeg's address. When I called them in Winnipeg, another rep told me they are not able to do that because they do not operate in Winnipeg. Quite disappointing to discover that a well-known company lies to its own customers to get money like a cheap scammers.

Never rely on RBC Insurance for car rentals whey you use your RBC credit card. RBC/Aviva will find their way to decline your claim, so you can't rely on them and have any peace of mind. Mine was declined only because my rental cost was reimbursed by Manitoba Public Insurance company because my own vehicle was hit and damaged by someone at fault. The claim to RBC/Aviva was denied regardless of the fact that MPI had not insured my replacement vehicle.

I had a term life insurance policy that was set to auto-renew at four times the premium rate. Their sales reps (pushy) tried to sell me on a "cheaper option" but were cagey about the fact that it was a completely new policy with new underwriting, not a renewal. I cancelled my policy in time (which "conveniently" has to be faxed) but they continued to charge my credit card the new higher premium. A rep promised a refund but then they didn't send it, and later they said it was because didn't get my fax. (Maybe we should move out of the 1980's.) Now they won't refund the inappropriate charges. I didn't die during the term so I can't really comment on whether the policy itself was great, but the customer service elements of getting the policy and cancelling had much to be desired. If RBC is going to fight tooth and nail over $100, how can they be trusted to pay out an actual claim when needed?
