Useless and Weak union. This union loves to collect union dues and does nothing for the workers. every year management loves to raise their salaries and get bonuses, while workers suffer from staff shortages, wage freeze and inflation.

Received my Ballot for the new CBA on October 20 recommending the latest offer from the College be rejected. Information meetings are listed as: Oct 17, 18, 19, 19. So how can I question or comment on what the offer from the college is - that the union is recommending that I reject? Someone is receiving a failing grade here.

I have been represented by MGEU for 22 years and I can honestly say every penny of my dues is well spent for this union. I always feel heard when I have an issue, the staff are knowledgeable and responsive. The resource centre is second to none - they always provide the assistance I need or direct me to the staff that can assist me. I work in healthcare and MGEU has been active and supportive to ensure that the employer has provided proper PPE and MOAs have been developed to ensure pandemic pay is provided appropriately. On a more local level my staff rep is amazing - I always feel like he has my back. MGEU also provides continuing education about a myriad of topics, not the least of which is pension and benefits - after all who doesnt want to be well educated about retirement. Pension and Benefits is just one example, there are so many more. Also, MGEU has some of the lowest dues in the province AND the dues stay in Manitoba to represent the membership whereas with some other unions the dues go to Ontario. I just cant say enough good things about MGEU and wouldnt want to be represented by any other union. Thanks MGEU for your outstanding service!
