I called on behalf of a trans friend who did not feel comfortable seeing a notary for a name change doccument without checking to see what the notary thinks about trans folks, for their own safety and comfort. I was quite taken aback by the response of "whatever you do it's your choice", her being aggitated asking if I "called to debate this issue" after I politely informed her that gender wasn't a choice. I felt the need to inform her that it was relevant to the reason behind looking into this I didn't think we'd feel comfortable using her services. Elizaveta, I wish you the best in your trans education and learning about the ways inclusivity has grown in our society! I truly believe you want to do your best and that you're living in a changing world. I highly recommend connecting with a LGBTQIA coach like myself at Conscious Strides, looking into some of the Trevor Project's work, or connecting with the Rainbow Resource Centre.
