Dr. Lafournaise used to be my doctor before I got a new one. I used to like her a lot, but at one point my health and well-being suffered because of her after a medication dosage change. She didnt acknowledge that or take any responsibility. ALL of the receptionists are the most miserable creatures you could ever have the misfortune to meet. They are incredibly rude, unfriendly, and unprofessional.

I've had nothing but issues with this clinic. Appointments constantly rescheduled and cancelled. Phone appointments where the doctor never calls or calls over an hour late. My doctor didn't submit my specialist referral for months after my appointment. Doctor seemingly doesn't take notes because has no idea why I came for a follow up that he recommended and then suggests the same things that didn't work the first time. I could go on.. Absolutely brutal.

My doctor (McCannell) is fantastic. Receptionists are hit and miss. Sometimes I get professional, kind service from them, other times its as though me calling is the biggest annoyance of their life. Maybe it depends on who answers? Regardless, I put up with the negative aspects since my doctor is so great (and a few times Ive had to see other GPs in the clinic, and they have ALL been amazing.)

Dr. Lafornaise is an embodiment of a compassionate and caring doctor. She listens. Shes patient and genuinely cares for her patients. I wish all doctors are like her. She treats you like a human being and not just a number or statistic. Highly recommended.

I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I feel compelled to do so after the terrible treatment I received on March 27, 2023. My regular doctor, Mark Collister, was not available on short notice, so I agreed to see another doctor, Melanie McCannell. She was terrific. The problem was with one of the support staff. After my appointment I realized I would need a prescription for a hernia truss for my private health insurer to cover it. Dr. McCannell was aware of my need for a hernia truss, as we had discussed it during my appointment after she had diagnosed the hernia I also thought it would be a good idea to get a copy of her clinical notes in case the insurer requested them, as they often do. So, realizing this after driving home, I called her office to ask for a prescription and a copy of her clinical notes to be emailed to me. Well, I might as well have asked the young lady on the phone to pull out her eye teeth! Oh no, we can't do that. You need to come in for another appointment. Or at least make a phone appointment for two days hence, which was apparently the earliest appointment time available. I then asked to have the doctor call me, but the gate keeper said she is far to busy for that. I insisted, and suggested that she call me when she was finished with patients for the day. I never got a call. I presume because the doctor never got the message. Now, I had already seen the doctor and she knew exactly what was what. Writing a prescription that should have been done while I was previously there, and providing a copy of the clinical notes should not require my coming back to their office, expending my valuable time and money (for gas). I can only imagine that they wanted to bill Manitoba Health for another unnecessary visit and thereby waste an appointment slot that someone else could use. And she was somewhat snarky on top of that! Someone there needs to learn the value of good customer service. I loathe having to find a new doctor's office, but my wife showed me some leaflets that came to the house advertising a couple of new doctor's offices much closer to home that are looking for new patients. I will talk to both Dr. Collister and Dr. McCannell to see what they think about this and go from there. Some people just shouldn't be in positions where they interact with the public, and I know of one such person that works reception at the Kingsbury Family Medical Centre.
