Read these these 1 star reviews: NOTE: 5/14 reviews are 1 stars (0 isn't an option). She goes from 9 thinking her services are 5/5. Who could be her friends for all we know. Nothing in-between. The 1 stars have a story to tell and are true claiming unprofessional, feeling unsafe, and left just feeling wronged. If she claims to not know me, I have the receipts as proof of services. In the initial consult and visit, I thought I was clear in wanting mindfulness, to develop coping strategies, and recognizing that mental health encompasses a variety of tools to get better. The second visit she used the hour and half to argue with me over my medication and the need for it. I tried to justify my diagnosis and medication but paid $155 for a terrible session. If you are looking for a therapist who recognizes the balance of medication (doctor prescribed), positive daily habits, therapy, and spiritual wellness, she would not be the right fit. She asked to consult with my doctor during both visits. However, therapists should not be advising clients on medication. She seems to only believe that diet only can cure all mental health problems. She made me feel stigmatized, when she said that I would be categorized as one "would be 1-in-5 Canadians suffering from a mental illness" and that my medication was "supporting big Pharma". This left me feeling judged and ashamed. I also felt so scared for my recovery. When you look at her website it seems very professional but her certification in functional medicine is not accredited or recognized by medical boards in Canada. She should in no way be representing her self as a doctor. When submitting claims she was not covered because she lists the psychotherapy first rather than the counselling. This psychotherapy is not covered under Manulife insurance. Not a direct tag at her business just incase you try to get reimbursed. The therapy is definitely not worth what she charges and then to pay it 100% out of pocket is another slap in the face when dealing with a crisis.

Sometimes I think she's like a priest in a cathedral. Her cheerful energy inspires me a lot. She knows the truth of life that I didn't know.

I discovered Dr. Jonk on the WWW and I had my first video conference from her in September, I believe. After getting to know my history, she strongly advised me to stop taking my antidepressents. I have been on them for most of my adult life. Although she does recognize that there is a time, place and a reason for medication, she intuitively felt that I would never get to the centre of my pain, as long as I kept numbing myself. Incredibly, I have made so much progress, physically and psychologlically. She has helped me immensely and continues to do so. She is affirming, and she is not afraid to call a spade a spade. I consider myself to be an intelligent, intuitive woman, and I need a therapist who understands this, and who can see through the 'intellectualization' ! She acknowledged my past, and has helped me to put it aside, and to get on with the matter of living today. Thank you Dr. Jonk
