Worked there 2 weeks. After applying for a welder/fitter position i was promptly guided to the Beamline (steel processing equipment - I had previous experience). Without any prior head-up I was positioned there my first week. Having run one before I mentioned some improvements that could be made on the equipment and shop in general. These were ignored until I put them on paper and handed them to another foreman. Second week I was welding, with the thought that they still intended to put me on the Beamline so i asked for a copy of the Operators Manual. I was told by the foreman that he "thought" I wouldn't need to see it for what i was doing. Call me foolish but i think any worker should have access to safety documentation at any time to any piece of equipment they're running.
I've heard from others that wages are all over the place so make sure you get as much as you can from them. Ive also heard anywhere from $.50 night premium to $2. No clarity. They have little or no interest in the apprenticeship program.
You go to work, do things the same way they've done for 30 years. Don't ask questions.
Owner: Meh. Too comfortable. Foremen: Meh. Been doing the same thing too long. Welders/Yardmen: Great, hardworking people, good to be around.
