Food is sub-par. Questionable sanitary meal preparation (didn't wash hands coming in from garden, handled the dog then put out cold cuts to make our own sandwiches on stale bread or the leftover toast from breakfast). Breakfast was corn flakes with no milk available, communal yogurt tub, same jams put out each morning only taking seran off and communal peanut butter jar, and toast put in basket using unclean hands. Dinner was fair and meager. Felt quite uncomfortable from when we arrived, as if we were intruding and not welcomed. I feel the host is getting too old and flustered to handle this propriety. She needs to hire consistent help and not rely on free agencies supplying temp workers. The owner pushed us into taking her 1yo dog with onour first hike, then got angry when we would not take it on a long rigorous 7hr hike. It was a record breaking heat and humidity scorcher day. She later said the dog was too hot and slept in the shade all day, but did not apologize for getting angry at us. It was all just so awkward, random, uneasy 2 nights. We left early. Pouch Cove is a great, challenging hiking experience, just don't stay here
