Armstrong's Suites

My daughter and I stayed here on Aug.3/22. The location was too far to walk from the East Coast Trail but Anita was there to pick us up when we completed the Mickeleens path in Witless Bay. She also stopped at a place for us to pick up some supper and a few supplies. She had baked some fresh muffins for our breakfast the next day and a pretty arrangement of fresh hydrangeas awaited us in our room on arrival. The beds were comfortable and the bath was much appreciated after a day of hiking. She let me do a load of laundry and drove us back to the trailhead in the morning. She was so kind hearted and a true example of the kindness we were experiencing with almost every Newfoundlander we met.

I came to Armstrongs after a particularly soggy night on the East Coast Trail. Anita and Louis took me in as they would an old friend and welcomed me into their home with coffee, fresh muffins, gingerbread, and breakfast sandwich for the next morning. Anita offered me lunch and warm conversation. She was so attentive to helping me find what I needed as a solo hiker with no transportation. The room was comfortable and clean. I particularly enjoyed the rocking chair in my downtime. I stayed a second night to avoid another soggy tent situation and Anita and Louis were just as kind and attentive, epitomizing Newfoundland hospitality. This is more than a place to stay; it is an experience. Will definitely return here the next time I come from away!
