When I tried to negotiate a price for lamicoids, here's the reply I got: Good Morning Ralph, In response to your inquiring about doing lamicoid tag for you for $2.50 each. Just a couple of question first. Just curious if you go into a restaurant and say Id like to have the burger but only willing to pay $2.50 because you know the cost of beef, or go into Walmart and tell them you would like to buy a t-shirt but only willing to pay $2.50 because you know the cost of the material, or stop for gas and tell them the price you would like to pay because you know the cost of oil? So when a small business has pricing on custom work, and you question the value of that service. Have you considered in making that custom work for you is the cost of holding that inventory on hand for you when needed (also the cost of shipping that material to the shop). The cost to have an person cut the plastic to your custom size then having to manually round the corners, then the time it takes to set up on the machine , the time it takes to engrave it, the time it takes to bevel the edges nicely and the time and cost it takes to apply the expensive double sided tape (we have only the best for our customers). The time it takes to pack the order up the time it takes to make an invoice, the cost of taking a credit cards for these orders and fees associated with sales transactions. Also the cost of rent to have a place open so people like yourself can come in for your custom work. The cost of the machinery to do such work, the cost of the electricity etc LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES have struggled to just survive during the last 18 months with the shut down due to Covid 19. Is this really your response to supporting local business , is to suggest doing the work for a quarter of the value? Do you offer to do your work for the quarter of its value? If you were interested in our pricing which for the last 30 years has been always very good at keeping our pricing and quality at it best would be - $10.50 each plus HST If this is not to your satisfaction then I would suggest trying to place your custom order from China you may have a problem with quantity usually a minimum of 1000. Also, 6-8 weeks delivery is expected at best, but little warning little slower right now with Covid-19 and the shipping costs that will depend on whether you plan to pay for air shipment or delivery by boat. But Im sure you will find their pricing for $2.50 each or less. Anyways hope you have a great day and let us know if you would like to seriously talk about a quote for your custom lamicoid tags.
