This bank is the most unprofessional in Halifax area, went to make a large deposit one time and they took forever making me recount because they said it wasnt correct, it was all counted perfectly and wasted an hour of my time.

I have never experienced such disrespect in my entire life. The first sign was 7 or 8 years ago. My wife and I went into this bank and met with Grace Ho to start saving to buy a house, got some advice and we went on our way. Eventually we had enough saved to buy our house and after we closed, we applied for a line of credit- we both have excellent credit and were approved on the spot. But because it was the end of the day on Friday, we had to wait until Monday to sign the papers. It took MONTHS. Zero communication and basically had to chase her to do her job. Email after email and voicemail after voicemail we ended up having to go in multiple times and we were just told Ill call you tomorrow and the calls never came. Finally we ended up going to another branch to get our line of credit. Fast forward to July, we decided we wanted to buy a piece of land. We went back to this branch to make an appointment and lo and behold, it ended up being with Grace. We decided to go with it because we figured we had a hard time before because we werent taken seriously, being so young. Wrong: here it is October and we are STILL waiting on our homeowners line of credit. Multiple emails and multiple voicemails and spoke to managers and we were promised that we would be able to sign Monday. Still nothing by 4 pm. I went in and was promised she would send to be before she left for the day and here it is. 7 pm and nothing. We will be going in tomorrow and closing all of our accounts and transferring our mortgage. Disgusting service with no care at all for the customer.

In person the service is excellent. There is a teller there that i consider the best. And the phone service, once i get a teller, is excellent. My issue is business phone machines. First of all one of the options should be to speak with a teller for "other" reasons for calling, immediately (within a few seconds) of hearing other options out of respect for every one's time. (i.e. processing volume of callers a minute earlier is good... probably). - voice recognition is still garbage. button prompts make sense. - the machine voice shouldn't have an "advertising" or "outgoing" tone to it, this is rude. The tone sucks. - the machine process should respect the listener by not running ads constantly and selecting a modest volume to stay true to. Instead we have insipid music and then a much louder RBC ad layered over the music while you wait. This is very disrespectful. I'm not offended, i'm just tellin ya common sense. - customer service via phone has fallen off for every business i've interacted with. The culprit seems to be a lack of design values with machine services, which comes off as lack of respect for the customer. It's just sloppy design with greed to sell, disregard for people while handling volume. But design can make it nicer instead of loud, rude, annoying. Selecting better music isn't something you can teach, restraining yourself to have less useless advertisements (it's free so it doesn't hurt, right?), and quieter tones, not volume, the tone. A little more "japanese" could do us some good. Embrace restraint and smoothness in your design.
