I had called for a consultation with mitch broughton; after chatting with his assistant I was told mitch would contact me for a free consultation almost a week later, no biggie as lawyers are busy. I asked his assistant what his rates were and he informed me his retainer was between 1000-2000 depending on circumstance and his hourly rate was 174 an hour. I gathered up the money and eagerly awaited his call to retain him. Today he calls and goes over all the notes his assistant took from me and then informs me at the end of the call that he would require a 5000 dollar retainer and upward to 10 000 due to the hearing being scheduled so fast. Now I'm not sure why his assistant would hear everything I said and say it was half the cost then him turn around and tell me otherwise. It is absolutely disgusting to me to give two different prices. Especially when over half the work has been done for you. I'd suggest another firm. This is unacceptable.
