A must-do when you're in Halifax! Rachel, the tourguide, is amazing, a really friendly person and she knows a lot about Halifax and it's history and the history about the buildings as well as the eateries you visit with her. The tour is very personal and it's a pleasure to chat with Rachel. She will be happy to answer all of your questions about Halifax and where to get a special treat you might want. You get to meet the owners or chefs of the localities which is pretty cool. This tour is a lot of fun and absolutely recommendable for everyone who wants to have an amazing afternoon.

The best Halifax activity. Rachel was an excellent guide who not only knows Halifax and it's history but has the inside knowledge of the culinary delights of this city. We visited 7 eateries across a variety of dining experiences, she knows the stories behind the businesses and can answer all your questions about what's trending with food in the city and where to find it. A not to miss tour!

Had an incredible time. We had 14 girls for a bachelorette - we saw the city, ate amazing food and Rachel was knowledgeable and so fun!

What a delightful food tour of "SOMO", South Of MOrris Street, in Halifax! Rachael, the owner of Local Tasting Tours, met us at the Seaport Market where we began our tour at Shwarma Stop. There we learned about Lebanese cuisine and tasted chicken shwarma, a filling, eclectic wrap that included mysterious spices. The next stop was Shivani's, also located at the Seaport Market, which specializes in Indian cuisine. There we learned how to make Naan bread and tasted palak paneer, a spicy dip for the Naan. Next up was Rousseau's, a divine chocolatier where we cleansed our palates with a few of their dark chocolate offerings. Then we visited The Snappy Tomato, one of the best places in Halifax to taste donairs, the official food of Halifax. I have loved these comfort food treasures since their first emergence in Halifax around 1970. Morris East was next where we partook in their pear pizza. It was nothing short of amazing! Around the corner was Man Bean, an upscale spot that specializes in Vietnamese food and Scotch. There we sampled their spring rolls, another winning experience! The next stop was Argyle Fine Art, where we enjoyed desert treats from The Old Apothecary while we strolled through wonderful installations of the most innovative art pieces. To finish we stopped in to visit with Phil at The World Tea House. There we were treated to a masterclass in tea culture. It was a fitting end to an amazing foodie experience. Throughout the visitations, Rachael provided historical anecdotes about Halifax, especially SOMO which provided terrific context for our visitations. I would recommend this tour to anyone either visiting Halifax or locals who would like to expand their experiences with the Halifax restaurant scene.
