Update 13Mar23: HSSC has been heading downhill for basketball for a couple of years. They charge as much as leagues with refs and scorekeepers, but there's no refs and mostly no score keepers. They started running on Mondays and Tuesdays when most seemed to like Thursdays. During Covid you could give them the benefit of the doubt but now they have no excuses for running such a poor program. Original 5 star review: They run good leagues and an inclusive environment. They have always been fair about providing credits and adapting to Covid closures. There have been a few occasions where we have no one to keep score but most of the time they send a game coordinator.

I don't recommend this league at all. One of my players got injured this week because this person served really hard on her and kept doing it even after everyone called it. I emailed HSSC about the incident and they said that serving hard and aiming at specific players is a "valid strategy". I have the email exchange to prove it. It's intermediate not even comp, and even if it was comp. This not sportsmanship and I thought the point of this league was to be social and have fun. There are many alternatives for sports in Halifax, there are groups and lots of friendly people around, don't think this league is your only option. I won't be coming back next season for sure.

I have been playing in HSSC soccer leagues for 6 years or so. Lots of fun, good excesize and for the most part great folks. I have never had any issues signing up as an individual, people welcoming and friendly. For less than $10 per game... what more do you want??
