Red Mahone Bed and Breakfast

I have to say I was disappointed because like a previous reviewer, the high ratings had made me raise my expectations. I think the building has good bones but needs repair and renovation. The deck boards seemed like they needed replacing, things werent as clean or looked after on the outside as I wouldve expected for the high rating, and when you come in the entranceway, the windows etc. werent that clean, the foyer is quite dark. The host and hostess were very nice. He showed me to my room, brought me ice, it was all much more worn down than I wouldve expected from the pictures. I asked him to show me the remote and when he picked it up , there was a long hair on the remote and I mentioned it to him three times and he kind of just ignored it and it wasnt my hair. The remote and TV area didnt look like it had been cleaned off. He had two old chairs in the room ,they were like a red velvet but they were not clean and they had a lot of dirt and dust in the corners and just a simple vacuum wouldve helped this . That I had no place to sit and so as I started to see that ,I then kind of was creeped out about the whole room. It was just like it didnt have the kind of care a high quality B&B requires. I did the bedbug check,the mattress was older and had stains but I didnt think there was any sign of bugs and the mattress was quite comfortable but the room is just old and worn out and certainly not five star. The bathroom look like it had been renovated but what looked to be tile ended up being like panel board in the shower and there were marks on that as well, the room curtains were kind of so so quality, inside the windows were dirty , the ac ancient, etc. The breakfast was good .I give a four-star for the breakfast .would I stay there again? no cause I like things to be really clean .

This is an amazing place. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel at ease, from the warmest of welcomes, to making sure you have everything you need. The breakfast was lovely and filling! The room is extremely clean and have everything you might need. The location is great too, quiet with free parking, yet walkable to the town and all the restaurants. Great beaches are nearby. We highly recommended this wonderful B&B!!
