Murphy's Camping on the Ocean

Only reasons I am rating it a 4 star and not a 5 comes down to 2 things; 1) They didnt have any ice for sale the entire long weekend as their machine was broken. So we had to drive 25 minutes to get some. 2) Their water has high manganese levels and therefore not drinkable. Otherwise great spot, very friendly staff & owner! The community fire was great. Definitely recommend staying there, but call in advance to make sure they have ice.

(Translated by Google) September 2022 - The first day after Hurricane Fiona swept through Nova Scotia, we tried to find a nice, peaceful spot for the last few days of our vacation. And we found him at Murphys! Since fallen trees prevented the access, we cleared the access road with combined forces, the owner, the neighbor with the chainsaw, another couple of campers and we. Although there was no electricity and there was certainly a lot of clean-up work due to many fallen trees, we were received with so much warmth that we felt very comfortable after the horror of the storm. As a highlight, there was even a campfire with the hosts in the evening and we spent a few fun hours (with our bad English!) with stories about the campground and adventures with orcas. The next day the host made time for us and we got a tour of the boathouse and more stories. It was just great! If we ever go back to Nova Scotia we will definitely visit Murphys because we really want to take a boat tour. Thank you for the warm welcome and that, after such a bad storm, it was one of the highlights of our holiday that we will never forget. Und wir fanden Ihn bei Murphys! Da umgestrzte Bume die Zufahrt verhinderten, rumten wir mit vereinten Krften, der Owner, der Nachbar mit der Motorsge, ein anderes Camper-Paar und wir, die Zufahrtsstrae frei. Zwar gab es keinen Strom und durch viele umgestrzte Bume gab es sicherlich viel Aufrumarbeit, aber wir wurden mit so viel Herzlichkeit aufgenommen, dass wir uns nach dem Schrecken des Sturms sehr wohl gefhlt haben. Als Highlight gab es am Abend sogar ein Campfire mit den Hosts und wir verbrachten ein paar lustige Stunden (mit unserem schlechten englisch!) mit Geschichten rund um den Campground und Abenteuern mit Orcas. Am nchsten Tag nahm sich der Host noch Zeit fr uns und wir bekamen eine Fhrung durchs Bootshaus und noch mehr Geschichten. Es war einfach ganz toll! Sollten wir je einmal nochmal nach Nova Scotia reisen, werden wir unbedingt Murphys besuchen, denn wir mchten so gerne eine Bootstour machen. Vielen Dank fr die herzliche Aufnahme und das, nach einem so schlimmen Sturm, es war eines der Highlights in unserem Urlaub, die wir nie vergessen werden. When we got there they told us the showers had no hot water and weren't going to be fixed. The camp ground water is terrible. A tree beside the road with low branches ripped most of the stuff off my camper roof. It was raining and I had to get up on the roof army vent cap was gone. Owner didn't care. Just said oh nobody goes up there with trailers which wasn't true. They wouldn't help me launch a small boat on a trailer with their wheeler even though I helped them flip boats. The owners have really checked out and let things go. Touring around the islands was amazing. That's all I can say good about the camping. Is the location. Like many other seasonal campers that used to go there I won't be back.
