Had the haddock w/ mashed potatoes, the fish was all creamed on top of it that you couldnt even tell it was supposed to be a piece of fish. Very over priced for below average home cooked food. Every time I have dined here as a break from cooking, Ive left wishing I had of made my own meal at home. Food presentation is 1/10 and nothing tastes like its home made, has store bought flavouring.

What an absolutely spectacular dining experience this evening! We arrived before the supper rush without a reservation so we had our pick of seating. Started with the caramelized onion dip and homemade chips-- a more than generous portion for two. The chips were perfection. Fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned and hearty enough to handle the biggest of caramelized onion dip scoops. Highly recommend. Going the extra mile to caramelize the onion really made the dip shine. We each ordered the pink lady from the drink menu which was a perfect thirst quencher but be very careful because one tastes like five more. Fresh, fruity but never cloying. So good. Mains were chicken and spaetzle, and scallops. The scallops might have had the most perfect sear I've ever witnessed, nestled atop celery root pure with a light and crunchy apple-based slaw salad on top. Absolutely unreal. The salad was the perfect complement to the richness of the scallops. Perfect portion size as well. The chicken and spaetzle was eyes-rolling-in-the-back-of-your-head delicious. Bone-in, perfectly cooked, juicy chicken with a light breading and stuffed with just the right amount of goodness. The creamy spaetzle is the stuff of legend. Absolutely no salt or pepper needed, perfectly seasoned and one of the most craveable dishes I've ever tasted. The pickled beets added the perfect little pop of flavour. I would order this again and again and again. Portion was massive, I arrived with an appetite and still couldn't finish the entire dish. This was my first time dining in because I'm a take-out girl at heart, but the service makes it worth coming for. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable and friendly staff. I cannot recommend Wild Roots enough. 10/10.
