Smashed Apple catered our wedding dinner in July 2022. A lot of our guests had great things to say about the dinner. We have also been to many events catered by smashed apple and have had an amazing meal. Unfortunately our wedding day experience was not what we dreamed of. When booking with smashed apple, we booked a meal a year and a half ahead of time. When the time came for our wedding a year and half later, we had asked if we could make any changes to our menu. We were told no, if we wanted to make any changes (like even add 1 vegetable) we would have to pay 2023 pricing on our full meal not just the new cost of the extra vegetable. I totally understand paying more for the extra vegetable but didn't think it was fair to be charged 2023 prices on the full meal and not for what the extra dish is worth for ingredients and prep time. I then asked if we could have the same meal just change from buffet style to family style. It was a no, unless we paid the 2023 pricing which is now almost doubled in price. I totally understand paying more since there's more staff and work that goes into family style but again didn't think it was fair to pay double and pay the 2023 pricing not 2022 pricing.... lastly when booking we were told our vegetarians would have a vegetarian option to replace the chicken. Well when it came to having dinner, there was no vegetarian option, just pasta salad and 2 sides to choose from... we had 13 vegetarians at our wedding. So for them not to have a replacement was a huge disappointment. We are big foodies and we choose smashed apple because of amazing past experiences. Unfortunately we didn't have that experience. We were so stressed about our dinner that my husband and I couldn't even enjoy our wedding dinner. My husband went to ask smashed apple about why he asked how many vegetarians we had and he said so he knew how much chicken to make. Sooo he made less chicken and charged the same price for a vegetarian meal as a regular meal. Soooo bummed out about our dinner and felt terrible our vegetarian guests didnt have a vegetarian option to replace the chicken. We only get married once and will never get that experience back again.
