The Downtown Spa

Today was my first time at The Downtown Spa. It was easily THE best experience I have ever had getting my hair done. More often than not, getting my hair done is an experience I dread and put off for as long as I can. I have very bad social anxiety/body image issues and find sitting in the chair having to look at myself for the duration of the cut, dry and style entirely reason enough to avoid it altogether. I also find it difficult to keep up a conversation with the stylists as I dont often go to the same location each time. However, things are definitely going to be different now! Walking in, I was greeted very warmly by one of the stylists, Jess, who was going to be the one doing my cut. By the time my hair had been washed and I was in her chair I had already noticed I wasnt tensing my body and I was feeling so comfortable with our conversation. There were no awkward periods of silence or not knowing what else to say. Jess genuinely turned my fear into something I 100% enjoyed, and because of her truly wonderful personality I am now looking forward to going to get my hair done by her on a more frequent basis. I would definitely recommend The Downtown Spa (especially Jess ).

I was lucky to win a skin analysis and hydrfacial with Bonnie of Faces Derma Medical situated at the Downtown spa. Bonnie is very knowledgeable and is very concerned with your comfort and understanding of the treatment. My skin feel amazing and fresh. Thank you so much Bonnie !

the brazilian wax was really sloppily done and painful. had to stop halfway, with a bunch of hairs left unwaxed in areas where it had just been waxed. had to pay full price even though half of it was done poorly. it was my choice to stop it due to the pain but the condition that the areas that had just been waxed were left uncleaned/untweezed. only a couple hairs were tweezed and she called it a day. it was a very hurrying vibe for the price. the room was really messy and poorly cleaned. the assistant who stood to the side watching was very sweet though and had some helpful advice about my first time getting waxed. I was trying to make conversation about a friend who likes to get lip fillers done because I saw it listed as a service at the spa just to distract from the pain. she proceeded to tell me I probably *will* get lip fillers. pushy statement but okay.
