Hello Mack ... I am the owner of the Take 5 Oil Change shop in Barrie. I'm very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with our service. I inquired about what had happened and was told that all checks had been completed but that the skid plate had not yet been refastened. A technician who was trying to be helpful started to pull your car out. This was noticed immediately by the servicing technician and the car was stopped before it could even leave the shop. The skid plate was repositioned and fastened sufficiently to allow the car to be backed back into the shop where the skid plate was fully secured. Your comments regarding the use of zip ties is correct. When the plastic threads into which the skid plate is bolted wear with time to the extent that the plate can no longer be secured adequately, we use zip ties as an alternative. This is something that was done with a previous oil change, presumably by us. You may not have been aware of this or may have forgotten. We know this is the case because we had to cut them to remove the skid plate to perform your service. The skid plate was not damaged in any way in the process of our servicing your car. Everything that should have been done to complete your service was done and you were sent on your way with our apologies for the delay. I hope you understand that nobody is perfect and that we addressed our momentary oversight immediately and fully to make sure your service was complete. I hope also that you reconsider your thought of not using our services again. It would be a shame because we have always serviced you with care and reliability.
