Chartwell Whispering Pines Retirement Residence

Wonderful place and staff. My mom was a resident at WP from Jan 2021 until Apr 2023. Though much of this time was during the many lockdowns and restrictions of Covid-19, the staff did their best to ensure the residents were safe and well looked after. Although my mom was only there for 2 years, she made many friends and enjoyed the facilities and activities provided by WP. Our family is very grateful to WP.

While I dont have a lot of experience choosing a home, the staff at Whispering Pines made it easy to choose their facility for my dad. Right from the first tour, I could tell that it was a top notch facility. From the friendly staff to the other residents, everyone seems to be happy. Strongly recommend this retirement lodge to anyone looking for help in caring for their loved ones.

I am very pleased with Lynda, the Maintenance Manager, she was able to solve my problem as I had to resize my board so I could do my jigsaw puzzle. She cut the board for me, and sanded it and made it just right for doing my puzzles. Thank you Lynda

My mom moved to Whispering Pines Barrie early January 2023. She came from Windsor so this was a big trip for her. She moved here to be closer to family but she knew no one in the home. Upon arrival she was treated with a huge dose of kindness and respect. This made her feel so welcome and she has never asked about going back home once. She made friends instantly starting with the ladies she dined with and this extended to many more folks that told her they just loved living there. That kindness and respect has continued every day. She has the biggest smile on her face and, from a daughter's perspective, it appears she has a whole new lease on life. She feels very safe there and says the food is great. She thrives from the positive atmosphere in the home that radiates from the top general manager thoughout all the staff and among the residents. Can't say enough about how happy I am with the decision to move my mom to Whispering Pines in Barrie.

We recently moved our Mum from independent living in her home to Whispering Pines. Mum is a retired physiotherapist with dementia. After retiring, she spent her last 10 years (age 75-85) volunteering with VoN instructing exercise classes for seniors and so loved this work. She was telling me the other day, if you can just get the people to laugh, it makes their day better, and they have fun and enjoy the exercise experience. All you need is a sense of humour. I have found that this is what the staff do for the residents at Whispering Pines. Mum has mentioned to me how fun they are and how much shes laughed with them. It is truly a gift to provide laughter to people in their last years of life! YOU, the staff at Whispering Pines make a difference! Thank-you. Since moving Mum in January, 2023, our experience at Whispering Pines has been nothing but positive, from our initial tour, Mum's intake interview and our many questions/concerns being addressed efficiently and effectively by professional staff. As an example, Mum has ongoing issues with the remote controls for her TV and the Receptionist has been there for Mum to help her sort it out on a regular basis. The residence itself is beautiful, the rooms are lovely but most importantly the staff care for the residents and have fun with them and enjoy their work. This was evident to me when we first toured and spoke to other residents and on our visits, when speaking with the other residents, although they miss their homes and jobs, they seem to enjoy being there with each other. They're always out in the halls, and common areas, socializing and doing things together. I've toured many places prior to Mum's recent move and Whispering Pines is a lovely, bright and cheerful location, the best we could hope for, for our Mum.
