Jenivieve represented me in my over 2 years as she called it "simple" divorce process, which unfortunately was wasting time and money. I agreed on every component as she advised, however, we ended up in a case hearing that went awry. First she during the case hearing she did not adhere to her own advice. I also ended up being bullied into agreeing to something far beyond what she had outlined to me leading up to the hearing. She backed down to the opposing legal counsel who is labeled as a shark in the industry. I was misinformed by my legal counsel on several areas, such as accurate support calculation and date of my income used to calculate that. That is a large multi year, multi dollar mistake. Also she did not well inform me about the case hearing position and my options. Such as that I did not need to agree to anything at that time. Consequently I now give my entire paycheck to my ex and must wait "6 months" for the CRA to adjust my income tax rate to compensate for what I pay out. In a case conference you do not get opportunity to speak or defend, it is a consultation of potential agreement and suggestions. At a hearing all sides can present information, this is crucial in my case because I fully supported my ex paying the mortgage and all bills and give her thousands to spend as she likes but in the case hearing her lawyer told the judge she was "starving" and Jenivieve said barely anything and the judge isnt there to listen. Then Jenivieve pushed me to agree to what opposing council wanted. Further, it was wasting time and money exchanging many correspondences with the opposite office as other lawyer firms I consulted with after this mess, made it clear that in cases where opposing counsel refuses to participate in coming to an agreement together and stresses going to court only, is 1. their right 2. A bully tactic 3. signifies that no amount of correspondence will bring resolution. All those letters and calls were unnecessarily adding up a huge bill on both lawyers' sides when an experienced lawyer knows there will not be resolution. All I required was an accurate detail of what my legal financial obligations are and to get the agreement signed. I am not a hustler I just want that marriage behind me.
