Community is amazing! Small school with low numbers in the classroom similar to private school and very focused learning with additional ECEs constantly supporting the teachers. You get to know all parents and kids in kids classroom year after year and they make lifelong family friends. The teachers all know the kids by first names and their parents as it's a small school. The only thing is with COVID the kids no longer have a play structure which my son loved to have as an option for recess but was torn down and not replaced. Also, there has been incidents of kids arguing/fighting (he said/she said stuff) that for instance my kid was reprimanded on for defending himself and I was called but even the teachers didn't know what actually happened so did not appreciate the handling by the principal and investigation process. There's still lots to improve on regarding actual supervised recess. Daycare in school was beyond great but has declined in quality of care and staff in the last couple of years with COVID but likely a common occurrence. In school, with COVID restrictions, virtual learning has been a smooth transition and a good learning opportunity for the kids regarding speedy technology integration and all kids have chrome books in classroom but also for virtual learning as required. This school has no real extracurriculars or desire for them though other than occasional recreational hockey prior to COVID. It does not support gifted learners other than for placement in split classes when available. But is not readily available to help parents/students in this situation as it's not seen as a difficulty. They do not work to make resources available as I would have expected given it is small enough to care and help. But the long standing teachers are amazing at their job and truly do a great teaching with empathy and compassion for all children. They also do well to teach great values and morals so the kids look after one another.

I attended this school when it was under the direction of Monsieur Piovesan (late 70s). I could not rate the school more highly; the three years that I was there we learned how to learn, we learned a great deal and we formed life-long friends. What more could you ask for from a school experience?
