If you're looking for a cool thing to do with your family, consider the Colbalt Museum and mines. It's an educational tour, that takes you back in time. Entering the mine is such a treat, and may not be an option in years to come; as many of the mines are closed to the public. The tour in the mine is only takes about 15 minutes, however, the guide is highly informative. You'll be amazed at the amount of work miners did with their bare hands, and astonished at their working conditions. When we visited, our family received a private tour, as we were the only guests. This allowed us to ask many questions. After your tour with the guide, take a drive and check out the other mine sites. You can visit a mine that is so cold that it perpetually pumps out a fine mist on a hot summer's day and another that has crumbled to ruins. Look for the metal dragon and sculptures in the rocks. Visit the museum where you will find old relics and a room with glowing rocks. The museum sells souvenirs, and the little town offers a small downtown shopping district.
