We had a guided tour from a volunteer and it was a wonderful experience. Lots of interesting accessories from Chalk River's early operations, interpretative displays, and an EXTENSIVE library full of reading material on the physics, engineering, and history of nuclear reactors. Bonus points for a little periodic table with samples of the safe/feasible-to-display elements!

A must visit place when open. I hope this place gets a bigger and permanent house. Many artifacts and stories to be proud about being Canadian. The pioneering efforts of Canada's nuclear efforts and brilliance of Canadian Scientists who have made global nuclear electric power a possible. Also on display is the Oder of Canada medal received by (no spoilers) and a library on various interesting topics.

There truly is a wonderful group of people committed to acting as curators, caretakers and propagators for Canada's rich and illustrious nuclear history at the SPCNHI. The SPCNHI has its foundations in a respectful acclaim to people past and present and honoring their contributions to the nuclear industry and this intersection of society at large. There are great selections of interesting artifacts, objects, forms of media, curiosities and texts to be enjoyed on a visit here and it all has a personal touch. To loosely quote one of the founders whom I knew regarding the aims of the organization, "It's not only about the objects but about the people behind the objects. We want to know about them and who they were as individuals and to share their story." He believed that in appreciating and caring for the past we could better form a brighter future. I hope you have a chance to enjoy what the SPCNHI has to offer and meet some of the kind, caring and committed people behind their cause. :)
