The first meeting with a councillor was a complete waste of time and money. None of what was discussed was brought into the discussions, even doubt they looked at it as nothing was prepared based on it. Yet paid them to listen to a speech about coparenting which was not an issue. Mediation is suppose to understand both sides and propose viable solutions to find a happy middle ground. None of this was done, sometimes actually fueling the fire with mis-use of their Divorcemate SW, stating things were law when law didn't define the approach to be taken, and happy to waist time pretending to be expert in financial matters when basic tax credits that would apply to any family with kids were not understood and had to prove it to them myself using the already submitted tax information. Maybe I should bill them for the "training" I had to provide to them. During one visit, made us sit in seperate rooms alone for almost an hour as they were late. No one came to let us know of the delay, both of us thinking the other was having a field day discussing things with the so called mediator on a strategy. Taking time off of work to sit there, I should be able to charge them their hourly rate for my time lost. Multiple times had to follow up 2-3 times to get reponses only to get a vacation alert on the 2nd or 3rd attempt requiring more lost time. Multiple mistakes on what we spent a lot of time discussing found on the first draft causing more "billable" time to fix them. All this when most of the data was sent to them directly and we started with a legal draft agreement already updated/modified. In the end, we ended up mediating ourselves over email and telling the laywer what to write. Very little was solved in mediation other than presenting our points trying to get the lawyer to understand them hoping they could propose something we did not think about. Lawyer often was not impartial in their understanding and views of a topic and obviously lacking overall experience. Note that the 5 star review below (Gabrielle) is a lawyer that works at ALT Divorce... not an impartial rating what so ever and impacting the average. PS. This place was sold and now under Sicotte Guilbault. Not sure if this will bring any changes to the process.

Had to deal with them in a supposed mediation . I turned out my ex got everything she wanted and dad came across as a bad parent . It felt more like being there for the poor mother than for kids well being . The mediator even had the nerve to want to shake my hand as if all was fine . Quite frankly i would recommend going elsewhere .

Alt divorce. We do divorce differently. Well, they brought in a councellor for the first meeting but none of that information seemed related to anything else that happened. We went in with a draft agreement and 10k later very little had been resolved. They finally deferred the tough questions to independant lawyers. Dont buy the sales pitch. Its just another slimey lawyer (JASL)
