Highly recommend AOG Art Gallery, a true gem owned and operated by Bill Gibbons. The name is the first three initials of Bill's art collector father, Alan Osler Gibbons. After working as a dairy farmer, then running a successful maple syrup operation for 25 years, the gallery is a retirement project for Bill. It was the most enjoyable experience I've had at an art gallery, because of the stunning beauty of the country setting, and the fact that Bill gives you a guided tour, and is willing to share his knowledge of the artists he hosts. Located at 47 Leacock Road, the easiest way to get there is to drive to Frankville, then turn at Kitley Line 8, until you come to the fork in the road. Leacock Road begins here, where you see a huge sculpture of a fork, the brainchild of Gibbons, and created by artist Chris Banfalvi. Arriving at the gallery you're greeted by a massive cartoon style mural on the side of Bill's 80 foot barn, commissioned to celebrate his 25 years in maple syrup production. Once on the property there's an array of outdoor exhibits in stone, steel, opal stone, stainless steel and titanium. My favorite were the hobbit-like stone structures by John Shaw Rimmington, where you can sit and take in the stunning surroundings. Venturing inside AOG's two floor 2,400 gallery is a visual and sensory delight. I loved the self-portrait photographs by Dita Pepe. There's something here for everyone's tastes, from modern to traditional art, sculptures in marble and bronze, and ingenious moving exhibits and musical instruments to interact with. To visit the gallery simply book an appointment with Bill. There's no charge, just a suggestion to donate to the charity Innocence Canada.

1/ Amazing and eclectic private collection by Bill Gibbons. You will be so pleased that you visited - universally well-received. 2/ Not open regular hours but Bill is very pleased to offer private showings. 3/ Usually nothing is for sale, except for occasional guest-artist exhibitions.
