Great place to stay! The rooms are great with comfortable beds, the atmosphere of the building is incredible (as is the view of Hamilton), the breakfast is delicious, and the hosts are great. There's so much obvious love put into running this B&B. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Hamilton. Nearby activities: Quick drive to the FirstOntario Centre

When a trip was unexpectedly cancelled, and I desperately needed a place to rest and relax, Rose Arden Bed & Breakfast -- located right in my neck of the woods -- about a half hour walk (lugging luggage around was an experience) -- came to the rescue. Right away, Ken and Gwen made me feel welcome, to the point where it felt like a second home to me. Breakfast was amazing; the first morning I spent here, I had French Toast and potatoes, the second day, eggs, the third day, scrumptious strawberry pancakes; all amazing and left me feeling full for quite a while, and each meal in a restaurant would have been at least $15 dollars. They were very, very accommodating, I don't eat poultry/beef/pork and they had no problem substituting ingredients. The hosts were also vey accommodating when I accidentally left behind some items -- if you need something, they will help you out right away. I stayed in the Edwardian room and its name was well suited, decorated to what you might find in Edwardian times. I had a nice view of the walking trail from where I was and overlooking part of the escarpment. Bed was comfy and I fell asleep to the sounds of crickets and woke up to hear the birds and cicadas. Though I didn't spend too much time watching TV, Netflix was a fun bonus. I spent a great amount of time in the sunroom where tea and coffee was available at all times, plus a microwave to heat up anything and a spectacular view of the lower city. There, I spent several hours just reading, having tea, having some meals, doing some photography, watching some live curling from my laptop and phone (free WIFI is provided), watching the sunset and at night time, seeing thousands of lights from downtown; when I was a little girl I thought it looked like Disney. Another gem of this very charming and relaxing B&B is its garden where I spent time exploring and taking some pictures. There were many photographic opportunities from me from the different plants and their textures, to the all important pollinators. My only regret is that I didn't go enough and by the time I went to putter around there for one more time, it was check out time :( Location is ideal, close to amenities, a hundred year old Catholic church located next door, a lot of restaurants of all kinds and unique shops on Concession. I highly recommend Dirty South (I had the Nachos), La Luna's (I had the excellent sandwich or wrap and salad combo for lunch), Candy Werx (so many yummy treats), Opie's (can't go wrong with $1 British imports), and Pagoda (ordered it as my last dinner at Rose Arden). A hidden treat is the very affordable ice cream at the Big Bear behind Juravinksi Hospital. Ideally located right across the street from the Mountain Drive Park, where I took several walks, and its trail that goes up to the Escarpment Stairs which is quite the hike if you are up for a challenge! If you are visiting the area, or you do live in the area and just need to go for a refreshing and well earned rest and relaxation, Rose Arden Bed and Breakfast is the place to go. I would for sure come back!
