I read all these reviews and can only assume they are friends and family, because what I encountered was incompetence that cost me almost $20,000. I purchase a property through them after they solicited my business from Scotiabank. The mortgage advisor having recently moved from there. We locked in a mortgage rate, because I knew they were going to shoot up, and a good rate at that. Turns out though they werent aware of basic mortgage rules meaning, we couldnt complete for almost 20 days after we were supposed too. We had to get a private mortgage, through them, which they then had the cheek to charge a brokerage fee on. This put us over $10,000 out of pocket. They tried to blame the lender, but this was on them. When they finally got the original mortgage sorted and we could get out of the private mortgage, again at our cost for another $3,000 it turns out we lost the original locked in rate and were now over two point higher. The extra $13,000 plus the extra interest payments have put us in a hard place financially. I had a meeting with Aaron who said they would settle, but emails and text message have now gone unanswered for six months. I have no choice but to litigate and try get some of the over $20,000 this is going to cost me over the next 60 months. Avoid like COVID.

My wife and I were first time home buyers and we were definitely blessed to be referred to Louis and Empire Mortgage Group. Louis walked us through the entire process of purchasing a home and he explained everything in detail and used analogies for us to better understand. He was knowledgeable and made sure that we were well informed with such a big decision we were making. He was prompt to answer inquiries and took calls even late at night to accommodate my availability. He was extremely professional and yet funny too, which made the arduous process fun. Overall, it truly felt that he had our best interest at heart. Nothing but positive things to say about working with him.
