NOTE: This is a review for GOLDEN CASTLE, not Onyx. I stopped in at this "mom & pop" unisex salon without an appointment and was taken in right away. The atmosphere is underwhelming but the service was very satisfactory. My hair is the longest it's ever been so I didn't want to lose that butyou know, pandemic hairit needed a refresh after no haircuts for geez ... over three years for me. Despite a tiny bit of a language barrier (his son was on hand to interpret) Baram was very attentive and is the first stylist to take me seriously when I say "cut as little as possible." Noting that I often wear it in a ponytail, he shaped my hair so it framed my face when it was down but didn't leave stragglers when it was up. He was taking way too long to comb it so I did that myself with a nearby brush but noted afterwards that the brush hadn't been cleaned or disinfected. Everything else was disinfected so that was my bad. Baram recommended and applied hair oil because it was a bit dry. He spent a long time massaging and combing my hair (possibly because it was a slow day) and I have to admit, I didn't mind because I wasn't in a hurry. Baram also recommended a full facial threading (I had no idea this was an option!) and I was really grateful that he pointed this out. He put some kind of unscented powder on my face, presumably to highlight the hair, and turned that into a nice face massage. I don't know if this is why but this threading hurt far less than ones in the past and Baram did a great job. In total (trim, oil, full face threading), the bill came to $75 including tax and tip. He even insisted on escorting me to my car under a golf umbrella because it was pouring rain. All in all, I left very happy and will likely return if I'm in the area. Service: Long haircut
