No way to reach customer service. Automated voice mail asks you to key ext.#. Says office is closed but I'm calling during their business hours.

I called Nikon with a few questions (since I couldn't drop in) and I got Peter. He was outstanding... He went above and beyond in dealing with my questions and updates over the phone and giving me some tips about my camera - even scheduling a call-back to further help. Thank you Peter. That said, I would really like to see the service counter open up again since mailing the cameras is a big concern and expense.

This is the last and only Nikon service centre in Canada, and I would not recommend it. The prices listed online are significantly lower than anything you will end up paying for your service, and they do not service older equipment. This includes simple requests like sensor cleaning on models like the d800 (released in 2012). To me, an 11 year old camera is not that old considering how these cameras are built to last. Their higher priced services (which ended up being nearly double the list price on the site), include things like cleaning and rubber replacement. My camera received none of this and I had to send it back to Nikon (from BC) after I got it back the first time. Once it came back it had the rubber grip replaced but the camera still had not been cleaned, dust was still present in the dial areas and other spots and there was gunk in the hot shoe connector that was not there when I sent it. They also wanted nearly $400 to replace the middle button from the multi-selector that fell out of my d850 (its a pop-in piece). To their credit, the second time I sent it in, after demonstrating frustration, they expedited the shipping and provided me with a shipping label to send it back. However, I was still without my my cameras for nearly a month. It also does not help that the communication modes through the Nikon site are terrible, and these are what must be used to facilitate everything. I love my Nikons and have been using them for about 15 years, and used to bring them into the Richmond location when they had it. (I actually stuck with Nikon over Canon years ago because there was a service centre in BC). The service there was great and you got what you paid for. I'm afraid that while Nikon cameras are great, the service end is done and can no longer be trusted, especially at a reasonable cost. As my gear ages out of service, I will be switching from Nikon to a camera company that provides more care and ease in their mechanical services. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy Nikon anymore.
