My Smart Movers

One of the worst employers I've ever had. Ignores labour laws, underpays and overworks employees, takes advantage of people, scams people out of money on damages during shipping even if they pay for insurance, rented all the moving trucks, didn't actually own any trucks or much of anything. Runs everything on a shoe string budget and bills himself as 'The King'. Strongly recommend anyone avoid this guy, and if you work for him, trust me, there's way better jobs out there with vastly more reputable companies.

Jeff Smith is a scam artist and has perfected the art of scamming people. Smart Movers was hired to move 6 appliances from one location to a storage unit. Approx a 1/2 hr drive. Jeff Smith/Smart Movers billed us $1170. 3 people at a cost of $185 per hour for 5.5 hrs. This sum was paid to Jeff Smith yet he still refuses to release our appliances unless we pay him another $1170. He has the items in an undisclosed location and refuses to return them to us. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If you search reviews for Smart Movers or Tottens Movers (his previous company name) you will see that our situation is the norm with this man. Ignore all of the 5 star reviews he puts up himself. He uses the same verbiage with each fake review. Theyre easy to pick out. I repeat DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Save yourself the stress and draining of your bank account.

Broke a lamp of mine and didn't return my calls to proceed with the insurance claim. They claim to be accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but they're not. Also, they require a non-refundable deposit that no other moving company requires. Be careful of the other positive reviews on here because they're from friends and family of the management!
