The absolutely most unprofessional receptionist ever. Doesn't allow you to speak or discuss the reason for the dental visit which has left the concern unresolved. Would never recommend.

I am a caregiver for my father who resides in longterm care. First off the Denturist that attended my father seemed competent. My Dad is difficult and took longer than required for completion. I specifically instructed to be present for any procedure and after complaining that work was not completed am told that follow up was done with a PSW present. That was not the arrangement and they demand payment half up front before they even know what they are going to do. The Office manager is rude and will talk over you. I realize there are few options for us trying to look after our loved ones in these situations but I want people to be careful with this company.

I agree with other comments below. I think it is UNETHICAL to charge seniors on fixed income a "COVID" management" fee, which is referred to as an "administration" fee. When I asked for an explanation, I did not get the courtesy of a response. HOwever, the response from Golden Care to the LTC facility was that it is NOT for PPE; so what is it for? This is an arbitrary fee, which is meant for PPE and additional safety precautions in the office. This is a mobile service, so there is no office precautions involved. I have researched and found other dentists/doctors charging anywhere from nil to $18.00. To charge $65.00 on top of $150.00 visitation fee, is definitely extreme for LTC facility residents on a fixed income.

HOW did this dental company manage to be GRANTED THE ONLY company allowed to enter a nursing home like Chester Village? during a pandemic lockdown. Even after a "free round of assessment" Bill estimates are padded, ie Assessment fee, Admin fee besides "COVID administration fee." They do not seem to appreciate that very few residents of the nursing homes on limited income can afford something in the tune of over 500 plus for a hygienist. At this stage in their lives, there are thousands of dollars needed for dentures that so many seniors sadly go without. I am not a senior, my dental hygiene bill with x-rays do not amount to even close to $500.

Over a year ago, the LTC home in which my elderly mother resides had contracted with Golden Care Dental to provide a "free dental screening for all the residents." Sounded vague as to exactly what would be involved and, without specifying the qualifications of the dental screener, and I agreed to this free service even though my mother lacks any teeth at all. She does have gums, of course, which could have been assessed. Afterwards, in the mail I received a letter addressed to me from Golden Care indicating that the treatment recommendations were attached which were supposed to relate to my mother. Nothing specific about my mother was even mentioned in the attachment or the cover letter, other than her name being in the reference line on the cover letter. The attached page entitled "Information Regarding the First Phase of Your Dental Care" listed a variety of treatment recommendations and professional fees, namely "examination: $150.00", "denture cleaning & labeling - upper $110.00" and an extra $110.00 for the lower denture; "Covid management fee" of $65.00, "administration fee" of $24.00" Total: $459.00. Expensive! But, it confused me. After calling the nursing home to inquire, I learned that my mother had NOT even participated in this assessment at all; she had refused. So, Golden Care's dental hygienist (not dentist) left Mom's room. Yet, that wasn't mentioned on the letter that was supposed to pertain specifically to the assessment done on my mother. Also, my mother's dentures were only a year old and were made by a professional denturist contracted to this LTC home for many years. The dentures were already labelled according to what I learned when I phoned that denturist's office to confirm. So, why was there a recommendation in Golden Care's letter indicating that my mother's own dentures should be labelled for $220? Certainly, I think it's a good idea to have a dental service on call in a nursing home to help residents who are not mobile, such as my mother who has dementia and uses a wheelchair. There wouldn't be much of an overhead given that the Golden Care hygienist was visiting in person in the nursing homes. So, why charge so much, e.g. the $24 administration fee? Why charge a $65 Covid management fee? My own dentist didn't charge me anything when I visited him in his office during the pandemic multiple times. I didn't sign Mom up for any kind of service with Golden Care and I complained fully to the nursing home. I still feel that the communications from that dental company should have been clearer and more specific to the resident. Also, the nursing home should have provided much more information to the family members/POAs in advance and after the "free screening." Of course, I was not impressed with this "free dental screening" and ended up having to do a lot of research in contacting this company, the nursing home, the previous denturist, etc. to obtain the information that I needed to know in order to understand what had actually happened. I should not have had to do all of that extra work to find out clearly what was going on about my mother. The nursing home is still using Golden Care Dental Services for the residents to sign up for, if interested. So, there must be good results from them. But, I did not go through a good experience with them. I cannot offer any recommendation to anyone to sign up with Golden Care unless detailed research is done first by you to find out the full details and costs specific to your resident in one of the contracted long term care homes.
