CMHC has long been our business partner; the Crown corporation provides high-ratio mortgage insurance to enable homebuyers to put as low as 5% or 5%+10% down payment to purchase their own homes. The mortgage insurance fee does not need to pay upfront on the closing date, as most homebuyers merely add the premium to the mortgage. Please beware of the new rule on the minimum down payment. For the first $500,000 purchase price, the min. down payment is 5%. For the portion from $500,001 to $1 MM, the min. down payment is 10%. No insurance will be undertaken if the purchase price is over $1 MM.
