I am a York University Alumni, and I just graduated recently in October 2022 with a degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) at the Lassonde School of Engineering. Despite some of the difficult challenges that I faced as a student here, which includes the 2018 York University Strike, and the COVID 19 Pandemic, I preserved, and was still able to graduate on time, and have an overall great experience here at York University. Most of my course instructors, professors, and TAs that I have interacted with for the past four years as an undergraduate student were very approachable, hard working, and were willing to help me with any problems that I may have had as a student in any of my courses for the semester, which helped me succeed in the Computer Science program here at Lassonde. As many Lassonde students and graduates know, Computer Science is a very rigorous major with a heavy workload that requires a lot of time dedicated to studying for many assessments throughout the semester, so it is great to know that there are plenty of resources readily available for the student to use if they want to increase their chances of succeeding overall. The customer service of the administrative staff that I have interacted with here at the York University's Registrar's Office, the Lassonde School of Engineering, and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for the past four years have been excellent for helping me solve many problems quickly that I have encountered as a student, which included inquiries about OSAP, inquiries about course enrollment and de-enrollment, inquiries about financial assistance through Scholarships, Awards, and Bursaries, inquiries about degree conferral, inquiries about my application to graduate, inquiries related to my parking account, inquiries related to Academic Honesty with online courses during the COVID 19 Pandemic, and many more problems that were able to be addressed almost immediately with no issues whatsoever thanks to the knowledge, hard work, and expertise of the administrative staff here at these departments mentioned. I only visited the Keele Campus for all of my classes here at York University, and I have to say that this campus does resemble like a small town or city like many other reviewers suggested here on Google Reviews because there are plenty of restaurants for students to eat from before, in between, or after classes both inside and outside of York Lanes, and there are many study areas to choose from the several buildings here on the campus. My personal favorite study areas were in the basement level of the Victor Philip Dahdaleh Building, seating areas at the Accolade East and Accolade West buildings, the Bergeron Centre, the Ross Building, Curtis Lecture Halls, Vari Hall, and the Lassonde School of Engineering Computer Labs that are in the William Small Centre Building, which is a very quiet study space and environment like the Scott Library that is excellent to get lots of work done in crunch time ahead of fast approaching deadlines. I would highly recommend the indoor parking here at the York Lanes Parking Garage, and the Student Services Parking Garage at the Registrar's Office because they are safe, economical, and not to mention that it is great shelter for the winter if you are looking to avoid brushing snow off of your vehicle. The York University Bookstore has great customer service to place your diploma inside your purchased frame post graduation, and they have a wide selection of textbooks and study materials to choose from to try to make these products as affordable as possible for all students who want to succeed in their courses. Overall, to conclude my review, I would highly recommend this university to any friends and/or family if they are looking for a university that will help them prepare for a future career in their industry with the skills and knowledge that they need to succeed in the real world while also giving them an excellent reputation to stand behind them to increase their job prospects overall.
