I'm quite disappointed with my experience. The visit started off fine, the pre-exam was pleasant and the exam proper started off fine. However, things changed very suddenly when the doctor noticed that my current glasses were manufactured by an online vendor that provides very low cost options. The doctor made several comments I found to be potentially misleading about the quality of the glasses I was wearing, the manufacturing process used to create them and the potential that they could "cause additional damage to my eyes". The last comment was offered without any elaboration as to what might cause said damage. I explained that in my line of work, my glasses are very easily damaged, and that It didn't make sense for me to have one single pair of expensive frames that would not survive the abuse they will be subject to when I could buy 10 or more for the same price that I don't have to stress over losing. I also tried to explain that the frames I was wearing were very wide, and that when I had shopped for frames from Orillia Optometry in the past, I wasn't able to find any wide enough that fit me comfortably. The doctor then measured the lenses (not the frame) and claimed they were the same size on offer from them and I had to reiterate that the total frame width is what made them comfortable on my face. I did not observe that the doctor measured the total frame width even after I clarified. After this discussion, the mood in the room was significantly altered. I felt belittled for choosing the 'wrong' glasses. There were also discussions about my personal health (which I will not go in to detail on in a google review) which I felt were handled poorly, with assumptions being made by the doctor about my medication and treatment without the doctor having much or any information about the details of either. Frankly, I was bemused by the entire situation. I left wondering how a simple eye exam could be so emotionally draining. In the end I feel like the disruption caused by low cost online glasses has certainly caused some growing pains in this industry. I won't pretend to know much about how an optometry clinic makes money but I'm sure selling high markup designer frames is a significant part of the business model. I have no issue with this, I even suggested I would wear a pair if I could find one that fit. The best defense against a low cost competitor in any industry is to try to provide better service to keep customers engaged. Instead of this I left the exam feeling ridiculed and my business unwanted. I suppose I will have to suffer through life wearing my "cheap" and "eye damaging" $15 glasses which are comfortable, fit my face and last longer than the several hundred dollar pair I purchased with my last prescription from Orillia Optometry. The doctor suggested to see me once a year going forward, I certainly will book an appointment in one year's time but it probably won't be here.

I had a couple of problems with the eye glasses I purchased here and was disappointed enough to leave a negative review. After going back to address my issues I have changed my opinion of this business. They went out of their way to find and fix the concerns. The staff were patient and professional. Special Thanks to Dr Arvin. He is very skilled and dedicated.
