Towards the end of December of 2022, I called Poly-B as I was experiencing an odd odor in my water and wanted a quote to fix that. I was surprised when told that it was $100 to receive a quote from them which should have been the first "red flag" but said okay and someone was sent right away which should have been the second flag. When the employees arrived, they inspected my equipment and took a water sample. While they took both the raw and treated sample, I informed that I just changed all filters and pointed out the obvious that my softener was in regen. The employees told me that wouldn't effect the sample results. After a month and following up multiple times, I received the water sample results and a quote to replace everything for $5,000. I questioned the $5,000 quote and then I was sent another one for $2,000 for new filters and stuff. For back story, my current equipment was completely replaced 3 years ago from the well pump, to the filtration system to the water heater so you can figure that I was surprised and suspicious. I followed up with the manufactures and read the manuals where it clearly states that when a softener or iron remover are in regen, they will by-pass raw water which would give poor water sample results. That would explain how the raw sample test vs. the treated sample from Poly-b was the same. I called a prominent plumber in my area and had them also come to confirm what poly-b had done and quoted. This plumber DID NOT charge $100 just to come, take a look and provide a quote. The plumber also had a water test done where the results were back in 1 week with a full break down and surprise surprise my water had no abnormal readings but still a strange smell. The plumber then called a well water expert who informed that it is possible that the water heater anode needs to be replaced. Turns out it was the $50 anode and now my water smells perfectly normal. It is safe to say that I WOULD NOT recommend Poly-B Plumbing to anyone. They literally tried to charge me $5,000 for a $50 part.

PolyB came to fix a bathtub drain leak. The job took under 2 hours including diagnosing and cleaning up. Before they started the work, I asked the plumber what the total price was. He told me it was $649.75 including tax and asked me to approve and sign for this before work started (which I did on his electronic pad). The plumber and apprentice worked slowly to repair the leak. The job involved cutting a 2 square foot hole in the ceiling (5 minutes), identifying the leaking drain a few inches above the opening (5 minutes); cutting the pipe and gluing and clamping a 3 replacement section of pipe. When the plumber was almost finished the job, he said he had forgotten to add in the travel fee and cost of opening the ceiling and the total was $891.01, not the $649.75 total cost that he had provided me and I had signed for. I sent PolyB a note saying that the total cost that I was given and that I agreed to and signed for after the diagnosis was $649.75. Occasionally things slip through the cracks but a good company will reply appropriately and take responsibility. Unfortunately, the reply was angry and unprofessional complaining about all their business costs and to say that it was only my opinion that they charged too much. I paid the $891.01, but they lost a customer. Had I been provided with the quote of $891.01 after the diagnosis, I would have paid the travel fee and cost of diagnosis and hired another company to do the work. I have owned several homes and have hired trades for many jobs. My sons are electricians and iron workers. I recognize the training and appreciate the work the trades do. Charging almost $450/hour ($900 for 2 hours!) for this small, simple job is unreasonable and the cost was not what they had quoted me and had me sign for after evaluating the job. The company response to the upcharge was unprofessional and they took no accountability. Buyer beware. If you are looking for a plumber, use another company like Washago plumbing or Derbecker plumbing. Service: Plumbing pipe repair
