This review is actually for Dr. Anderson, a resident at the clinic. I took my daughter to the clinic today and we saw Dr. Anderson. I have to say its been a long time since I've experienced a doctor with the bedside manner, personality, people skills and professionalism this young woman showed today. She was very knowledgeable and took the time to answers all of our questions, all while putting my daughter at ease. If you find yourself needing to go to the Durham Women's Clinic request Dr. Anderson. She's amazing!

I would like to start off by thanking the clinic for offering abortions. I never expected that an abortion would be a positive or easy experience, but I was disappointed by this clinic. I never want a female or a young couple to go through what me and my partner went through. Prior to choosing this clinic, I had phoned multiple clinics asking if they offered the service for free as I am a student and cannot afford an abortion. This clinic told me that I would not be charged and the whole procedure would be free. On the day of my appointment, my partner and I were very nervous, we had entered the doctors room expecting some counselling, details on our options, and counselling resources for after. Instead we were given a brochure and rushed out. I did vocalize my one concern that concern was that during my previous miscarriage I became anemic and was hospitalized. I asked if this was still a safe option and to please monitor my blood levels. We were told that it was probably a one off and nothing to worry about. Once we decided to proceed we were told, the medication is very hard to find, but youre lucky we have it downstairs! This felt more like a sales punch for the doctor to make money as opposed to caring for our wellbeing. To our surprise, we were charged $400. We were in shock and felt forced to pay as it was too late to turn back. After taking the medication, I had many questions of what was normal as this was my first experience. Unfortunately, we were not given a 24hour contact number. This really disappointed me as Ive since read that most clinics provide one for support. After the abortion was complete, I was given the one-week blood work requisition. To my disappointment, there was no iron or hemoglobin being checked per my request. For weeks after I continued to bleed, faint, feel extremely weak etc. I finally got more blood work and to no surprise I was anemic. After phoning multiple times and leaving messages, the doctors assistant finally phoned me back. I vocalized my concerns and the doctor did not seem concerned and said they would look into the $400 charge. I also expressed my mental struggles and the need for counselling. I had told her that all other clinics I had looked up provided resources for this. Unfortunately, she told me they dont offer any free resources but could email me some options. Its been two weeks and Im still waiting for a call back. I have once again repeatedly phoned but never getting through. Ive left multiple messages expressing my concerns that I am continuing to bleed, faint etc. still waiting to be refunded and still never received an email for counselling. Four weeks after the abortion had passed, I continued to be in a lot of pain and started to get extremely ill. My body was on the verge of going into sepsis shock. I still hadnt heard back from the clinic. My partner and I decided to go to the hospital. It was then that we were told that the abortion was not completely successful and my uterus still had retained products. We were told we needed to be transferred to a different hospital immediately and proceed for an emergency D&C surgery. Although we were aware that a medical abortion is never 100% guaranteed, we were most upset at the fact that this could have been avoided. At this point, my health and vitality was at risk because of the negligence and malpractice resulting because of a lack of concern and follow up provided from this clinic. Still we have not been contacted, no follow up on the cash refund or counselling. Im only writing this review so that this clinic can learn from their mistakes and to help other young girls, and couples going through this experience. What we went through was traumatic and Im still healing from the whole process mentally and physically. All of this could have been avoided if the clinic had provided better care.

This is by far the worst clinic me and my partner have ever been to. The doctor is a salesmen who does not care about anyones well being. We went there to make a very tough decision and were give ZERO help throughout the process, before or after. I feel very mistreated in, which was a very difficult situation for my partner and I. We tried calling numerous times for follow ups and advice but could never get through nor would we receive a call back after many voicemails. Im very disappointed in the lack of care within this practice from the top down. If you look at the reviews and the low review score, it speaks for itself. This practice needs to actually take their patients needs/care a lot more seriously in order to have a successful future. Thanks for absolutely nothing and creating a lot more stress into our lives. Stay away if you are reading this. I rate this place an actual 0/10.
