I signed 3 contracts with Capital Home Services (CHS) in the fall of 2021 for (1) kitchen renovation (2) interlock (3) foundation leak repair. Each project ended badly. For the kitchen contract, CHS demanded 97% payment well before the kitchen was done (no running water, no countertop, missing cabinets and drawers, no lights, partially painted, flooring not installed) and sent the notice below on Christmas eve saying they would put a lien on my house. This contravenes the Ontario Construction Act where customers legally hold back 10% until the job is done. This fast track method is put in place for exactly this situation where non payment occurs. This will give us our money owed and we will be asking for an additional $ 20,000.00 in lost revenues. We have that right to request this as we are now out revenue we would have otherwise collected from other projects. You are still able to resolve this issue by honoring your payments as we have requested. You have until 10am to call in or show up with a check to our offices with the $ 18,000.00 progress payment. However, our Lawyer will take legal action at 10:30 am today without hesitation should you insist on your incorrect action of non-payment GOVERN YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY Mary Coughlin Capital Home Services With more payment, they did more but left the kitchen with lower cabinet longer than upper cabinet, window no longer centered between cabinets, tap that hits the wall when turned on, dishwasher does not fit and falls out when loading and unloading dishes, drawers not all aligned, a drawer that is jammed, etc. As for the interlock contract, CHS removed my existing steps without my knowing, then told me there was no brick colour choice. They didn't have the right bricks to do the work. They agreed to resume the interlock in the Spring of 2022 and I offered to pay to take down the mismatched structure they put up. They never came back and left a mess for me to clean up. As for the foundation fix, it leaked again and I hired a foundation company to fix it this time. When it was dug up, it revealed CHS had not put in any waterproofing except a flimsy tarp so it was inevitable it would leak again. In my experience, CHS is the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. Service: Home renovations
