Algonquin Fly Fishing Premium Guide Service

I contacted Algonquin Fly Fishing looking for in-the-field instruction, as a beginner with a fly rod. Jeff was an excellent instructor, and was patient with me as I experienced the inevitable snags and tangles inherent to the learning curve. I walked away from our half-day session more excited than Ive ever been about fly fishing, armed with knowledge and experience that would have taken me multiple outings and copious curse words to earn independently. An amazing morning on and beside the Petawawa River learning how to cast a fly! I had never used fly fishing gear before our trip, but Jeff (our guide) made it extremely approachable, so much so that I picked up a rod-and-reel combo right after! On top of being an amazing teacher, Jeff was a gentleman and a scholar! Highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve their ability or for a great day of fishing/learning!

If you're thinking about hiring Jeff for a day, or days, on the water just do it. You'll have an incredible guide full of local knowledge and history of the area, his boat handling is fantastic... he just simply knows his stuff, and more!

We spent one day fishing with Jeff on the Ottawa river and we had one of the best experiences of our honeymoon. It was our first time on a drift boat and Jeff did an excellent job guiding us and helped us catching many smallmouth bass. It has been also very interesting to learn several things about the river and wildlife. If you are looking for a guiding service in this region we strongly suggest to contact Jeff.

What a fantastic day on the water. He really took the time at the beginning to walk through the finer points of casting and was very helpful on where to cast and how to retrieve in different scenarios. Couldn't recommend more.
