Not a fan of the teachers, or the kids there. The principal isn't bad though.

Right, the only reason I'm giving this school 2 stars is because of my experience pre 7th Grade, after that this school has gone downhill. First off, this school's quality has severely deteriorated ever since a new principal came into charge. It doesn't help that this school is over 50 years old, but what is bothering is that there are no plans to improve it. The school is not up to code in any way possible, even though it can be done very easily, and it is very out of date for any other schools in the vicinity. Secondly, I find the lack in professionalism in this school quite disturbing. When I was in the 8th Grade, our teacher had to leave due to back problems for the last two months of the school year, which I had no problems with. The problem I did have however was how after she left, we did not get any stable teachers until June. We had hopped through supply teachers left and right with no prevail except two or three constant teachers throughout the whole ordeal (great teachers, really fun time). Even with the supply teachers, one could argue that there was not much done to ensure a good experience of learning. Many of the supply teachers we had were emergency supplies, meaning we could not use the gymnasium for physical education. Through this, our class was not able to learn the proper curriculum as we were forced to go outside, and when we didn't go outside, we stayed inside not doing any form of physical education. Thirdly, I find the cell phone rules in this school to be very strict for no reason. There is absolutely NO REASON why it would constitute delivering a conduct report to a student for taking out their phone in class. Even though I am extremely biased against teachers/supervisors taking student's phones as I am a student myself, I think there is no reason for a conduct report to follow up if a phone is taken. There needs to be much better policies than the "take and write up" procedure which is in action today. Another problem with this policy is that teachers refuse to listen to any justification for the student and their phone. A friend of mine had their phone taken once for simply trying to contact their parents, which I think is too little for a phone being confiscated. Another issue with this policy is that they think it should apply to facilities outside the school as well. The principal here likes to think of school buses as an "extension of school" which I do not approve of at all. The school buses are owned by separate private companies which are simply contracted out to operate routes to the school, and not to follow a school's direct rules relating to certain items. The school administration also thought out that it would be a good idea to include this same policy at graduation trips, and we were not even allowed to use our own cellphones at our OWN GRADUATION. This is extremely absurd to me, and it seems my friends feel the same way about this same issue. Though I will say that this school has many more cons than pros, the pros here are the learning environments when everything does go right are VERY good. There is much room to make friends and many of the teachers are very nice here. It is simply through the absolutely horrible policies at this school that the teachers become more widely unliked by the student base at this school. I have to give it to the teachers, as all the teachers I had were very good, and I would definitely do it again if it wasn't for all of the very bad policies that this school has. To finalize, I would like to tell this school to get their things together. It would make the school much better, and would make it a good place to go to school at. If you are looking to come to this school for the PACE program, I very much think that you should look over this message and possibly reconsider your choice. I wish the school administration, the teachers, the other staff, and the student base the very best, and hope this school improves for the better.
