Snake River Whitewater Canoeing (Aug 16-30, 2021) If I could give this trip 6 stars, I would. What a life altering, exceptional, AMAZEBALLS adventure. Loved almost every second of it, and the moments I didnt love taught me invaluable lessons.

Did the 3 day Georgian bay kayak trip with Blackfeather in August 2022. The trip was not as advertised. We did not circumnavigate Franklin island as expected and had very short paddles all 3 days. In fact the guides were not aware we were supposed to go around Franklin nor had they ever been to the area before. Wet exits were also advertised as part of instruction but never happened in spite of another participant repeatedly asking for them. The equipment was subpar. One kayak was leaking. Time was taken from paddling to repair the leak. Life jackets did not fit even though they asked our sizes in advance. Im sure they were not safe riding up around everyones ears (they had already been fitted and tightened to the max). Paddles were stuck together in a feathered position which is not ideal for beginners. Guides did adjust paddles but only after I requested they be fixed. While we made the best of the trip these issues should not have occurred especially in light of the price tag. Additionally the company never reached out after I gave feedback. I would never recommend Blackfeather and I dont intend to use them again.

6 Day Purcell Mountains High Alpine Trek This year 65 Realtors from across Canada applied and were chosen to face some of Canadas harshest alpine terrain. Divided into three groups one day apart, we trekked on foot for 6 days, scrambling over rocks (talus) and boulders, found our footing over glacial ice, slid down hundreds of feet of Scree, at times it felt more like skiing than hiking. We also walked across expansive alpine meadows, bushwhacked through forests and drank directly from high alpine streams. The days were long, all days were hard, we laughed, we cried, we supported each other and forged strong bonds. For five nights we slept in tents, a chance to put down the 30lb+ backpack, take off our hiking boots and tend to blisters and wounds. Food has never tasted so good, carbs were devoured in gross quantities, necessary for the next days adventures. Before bed all food and scented items had to be stored separately, this is grizzly bear country. . Some of my personal highlights were: - Eating a sandwich on top of a mountain pass we had just spent the entire morning climbing at 8675, it felt like we were on top of the world. - Hiking the spine of a glacier and then filling our water bottles from a spout that came directly from within it. - Watching the sunset behind a distant mountain range, the sky glowing orange from the smoke in the air from forest fires around us. It looked like the Patagonia logo. - The moments of solitude, finding strength when I thought I had none left three hours earlier, mindful steps, songs, story telling, open honest conversations about life, family, business, lots of laughter, stars, mountain air. . I will never forget the wind, the smoke, an aggressive grizzly and her cub and a helicopter on standby for exactly moments like that, buckets for toilets with the most incredible vistas, talus, small steps for distance. . It was truly the most incredible challenge. . And no, I have not reach my Adventure Threshold.

Just returned from 6 days on the Saguenay fjord, a recent addition to the Black Feather list in conjunction with Fjord en Kayak. The Saguenay fjord is awesome, but what really set this trip apart was the guides - Mathieu and Billy. Their professionalism gave me the confidence to try rough water that I would never have attempted otherwise. Their knowledge of the natural environment and local history made the trip a major learning experience. Then there was the food - a high-quality and interesting mix of local specialties expertly prepared and served with a personal touch. To this were added generous extras that I believe reflected the unique characters of the guides. To top it all off there was humour, stories, laughter and joie de vivre. What more could a person ask for ?
