Stayed for two nights during mid September in the Cedar Cabin, and had an absolutely fantastic stay. We chose Cedar due to reading that it was the only cabin to have a firepit on the water and would highly recommend it for that reason too! The interior of the cabin was cute and cozy and noticably warmer than the air outside. There was a kitchenette with essential cookware eg: pots, pans, kettles, utensils as well as a gas stove/oven, small fridge, and fridge/freezer. The patio also had a small barbecue that we didn't use due to not planning on having access to one. There was a comfortable couch and a collection of books on lake Superior history and stories of people's travels around it which was a welcome suprise to the start of our trip! The upstairs bedroom loft was beautiful with a comfortable bed and balcony overlooking Lake Superior's Black Bay. The cabin was clean and came with a box of firewood and fresh drinking water. We were pleasantly surprised that there was hot water available in the shower, though keeping it at a comfortable temperature is challenging due to its limited availability. Overall still a plus when we were expecting pure cold water! The grounds of the nature retreat were beautiful with a few small roads separating each of the cabins, the main office/home of the hosts Bruce and Brenda. Exploring them doesn't take long but it's a very pleasant walk. Beyond the Giant is conveniently close to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and the hosts let us use one of their park passes to go into the park to see it's many hikes and lookouts. I would highly recommend Beyond the Giant to anyone trying to have a trip in nature while enjoying more comfort than a tent or trailer can provide at a great price!

A bit rustic. Very private and the fireplace works well.

Checking out the accommodation section on their website it states"No pets, no exceptions." Decided to give this place a 1 since the owner's are not stating a service dog is an exception as a service dog cannot be turned away.
